Thoughts on T-Bag

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, I haven't finished reading through the whole thread yet.

I wonder what kind of person Theo would have been if he hadn't been abused as a child but had been growing up in a loving familiy. With all his charm and cleverness would he have been a respected and "valueable" member of society?

wow....i think so.....you reminded me one advert that i watched on tv...there has been said that someone who was maltreated so once he/she is going to maltreat,too.....i think it´s true,because when someone was punished or abused so then definitely there must be some consequences....

and i think that teddy would have been good one and really clever...he seemed to me smart enough when he told over ten synonyms etc....and actually i think he is still very smart,but because he had hard childhood so he´s evil....

but then he went bad coz his father..ummm "loved" him a little too much...but yeah i still think he could be a genuis if he wanted ;P

i don´t know if he was right a genius but i think he was a smart one....he could be really good and useful one...but his father wasnt good one at all and there are implications on Teddy...

actually mikey was punished,too...but there is difference that mikey felt love from his brother and mother,but teddy had no one who loved him,imo...so maybe there started problems with his behavior...

I think we have mentioned this before--or at least I have. There are certain consequenences to such an upbringing, although they differ from individual to individual. If I were to guess, taking other components of his personality into consideratio, I would be inclined to believe he would be a high acheiver. He'd be competitive, but productive.

I think he is an interesting character and it makes it more appealing to analyze what little we know about his life--his past and who he is today. I don't know if I would have called him a genius, because we never were given enough information to come to such a conclusion. He was obviously very bright, unlike the rest of his family. It also appears he was pushed a bit, forced to be this person...the one who would be successful...not fall into the same trap his family had. You can tell he was somewhat resentful of all this pressure and therefore lost some interest in practicing. It's really hard to tell if it was merely a lack of interest on his part, or if he was dealing with so many problems, he saw no use in it anymore. Maybe he knew enough to realize he wasn't normal, that these things wouldn't happen to him. Typically, with someone like Teddy, you can see early signs in childhood--especially by the time they hit their teens. They begin to exhibit certain types of behaviors, interests, and predilections. They may lose interest in things they once love and start displacing their anger on others or family pets. Sometimes, depending on the individual, it will begin with arson and/or vandalism.
I have to agree with you on this one, Helps. Although they clearly had rough upbringings--both of them--they each turned out differently. However, I would like to point out there was a difference. It seems that T-bag had a more violent and sexually abusive upbringing, while Mikey's major problems centered on a lack of parental figures. So, with him, there was more confusion and less certainty....which, imo, made it more difficult to cross over...kind of like T-bag did. And then you have the fact his Linc was there...and they obviously had a strong bond. T-bag didn't have any of the things: He seemed to be emotionally neglected by all around him and this was probably the case at school ( he was probably an outcast without choice and was constantly picked on).

that´s true that we don´t know enough about T-Bag to come to some conclusion...agree that he isn´t genius,but think that he´s smart one...i really didnt like Teddy at first...because he´s violent etc...than i got like him and when i saw ep 2x17 so i was sorry about him...but i dont know if he would be "normal" if he father wouldn´t abuse him...im in doubts,because rest of his family was strange and i think that maybe he wouldn´t be killer,but still i think he never would part of normal society...he would be unlike the others...and than maybe he would want some love and if he wouldnt get it,so probably he would be killer in the same way...who knows...you know i´m not so curious about LOST,but there is one thing that i like...retros...i think that was great idea,because audience can better know individual characters...it would be nice when we would get to know more about past of characters from PB...we´ve gotten just one retro eps and although it was good one,it could be better if we get more informations about them..
yea...i think so...i just said that they have something in common,but agree that T-Bag´s situation was much worse...Mikey was punished and he was poor...that´s what i think...but i have to say that he was at foster father "only" 6 months and i know that he had hard time...on the other side he had luck and his father came for him...but Teddy was with his father the whole his childhood...that´s incomparable...
and about Teddy im quite surprise that he was killing children...i would expect that he´ll kill ppl,maybe some men or women...maybe he had hard time at school with classmates..or he went the same way as his father and abuse children...
