OK i'll admit I was one to criticize some Season 3 episodes and particularly the ending in last episode
I thought the ending was great. That last scene, with Michael driving out with the gun and the rose next to him, that was a brilliant, strong and promising image. Of course it's useless now.

Also i'm sure most of you would agree Season 1 was the best season but you will notice this with the majority of shows as there won't be any expectation from the viewers in the 1st Season whereas everybody would expect in Season 3 the show to be of the highest quality.
Not really. There are shows that get better over their course, SPN being the most recent example.

Despite not being into the whole love-thing, I really thought the end of S3 was beautifully done and left a lasting impression on many viewers. The scene conveyed so many emotions, and it was a great way to end the chapter and also lead into the next season. We not only had the emotional substance, but we also had all of the possibilities for Michael. What would happen on his long journey to find answers? Would he find any at all? Would he get revenge? Would he reunite with the other guys? Would the solitude make him think more and perhaps make him go a little mad? There were just so many things to be taken from that scene, and it really kicks the mind into overdrive.

Judging from fan reactions and ratings, it would seem the first season is the most popular. The detail, the construction, was so perfectly put together, and I really don't think many other shows could successfully cook up the same formula and pull it off like the writers of PB did. I do agree there are a lot of shows that tend to get worse or less popular with each season, but I believe it is for many reasons. Sometimes they want a show to outlive its intended life expectancy in order to milk it for all it's worth. If a show becomes popular, they try to stretch it out and maximize on it. However, I don't think this is always the case. Like Calena stated, SPN is a prime example. IMO, the show gets better every season, and I am more excited than ever to continue watching new episodes. I think one of the reasons why this is the case is because they have a double storyline. You have the stories which are episode-specific, the hunts. This gives viewers something new and interesting to watch every week. But you also have the larger picture, the story of the two brothers and their fate, which expands all the episodes. SPN can pull this off without making viewers feel impatient because they have the smaller stories as well.

If they didn't had to rush through season 3, yea, the story would've been more tight and compelling sorta. It would've been more similar to the first season, IMO, yea, it kinda is but, yea.. I liked season 3, but then again, I feel like it didn't get to show it's full potential. And btw, I thought Gretchen was kinda annoying. Oh well.
