Dr. Sara Tancredi

As requested, here is a thread where people can talk about the character on the show, including what they think of her character this season.

I don't have much time, but my 2 cents on it, not that it hasn't been said before:
I have nothing against the actress SWC. I like the doc's character in the first season, I loved that little romance they added, even when one could argue that Michael just used her. I thought PB was a very bold show to kill her off and loved PB all the more for it. After that last scene of S3, with Michael going off with the rose and the gun on the seat next to him, looking for revenge, that was brilliant and I was so excited about things to come! Alas a few weeks later they announced her return which dampened my exitmenent about PB considerably. Her return makes that brilliant scene in S3 obsolete, makes Linc, LJ and Gretchen seem dumb and doesn't add anything to S4 so far. At least concerns of countless MiSa making out scenes haven't come true, but I'm sure the guys could make their coffee on their own if need be, so what is the use of Sara?
They probably came up with that illness of Michael's to give Sara a purpose, but that dosen't work, unless she operates on him herself on that conference table of their's!

I agree with you. I'm just not into bringing characters back after they've been killed off. If anyone is old enough to remember Dallas and the famous Bobby Ewing shower scene, it reminds me of that, just stupid. That's why I could never understand why the writers chose to kill Sara off the way they did. I thought they would have been better off leaving the window open a little better (like they did with the Kellerman). As a fan, I completely saw the possibility of her coming back, just because I didn't think the network gave it enough time to work out the differences with the actress.

On a whole.... I find her actual character in the show really boring this year.... regardless of how I feel about her 'return' to the show....

There really is no skirting around tha fact that she is just filling in space in PB at the moment... twitching bits of paper... holding big black pens for long periods of time... reading blueprints , driving them all around... etc.... I truly am not getting her character this year...

Sorry if it offends any Sara fan... but really... what is her character actually doing this season to date.... even Roland had a more interesting character with more more funny or relevant lines.. then hers in that warehouse...

I don't understand it either. Since they came to her to ask her back I would've thought she would have negotiated for a juicer role on the series that had some content to it. So far I haven't seen it.

That's what I've been thinking. At the beginning of the season, there seemed to be a little promise in the Sara department. She had supposedly gone through a traumatic ordeal and was mentally and emotionally damaged. There were a few scenes, like the one outside the warehouse, where she had a flashback and then kicked something really hard. You could see she was frustrated...that she was experiencing a lot of pain. But nothing ever came of it. They didn't do anything with this potential. Therefore, Sara went from this damaged women to completely fine in a matter of an episode or two. Not only was it disappointing to watch the opportunity for an interesting side story get neglected, it also created a bit of inconsistency for the Sara character. It almost seemed no one could make up their mind about what to do with her. One minute she's to the point where she might not get over her experiences, then it's all about the MiSa, then there was maybe the possibility of her drinking again, then she just disappears into the background. Well, I am just happy they haven't flooded every episode with MiSa and all this mushy stuff. I guess that would have been worse.

I agree. I think the way the relationship has been portrayed is just fine. No more, no less. I'm really not into wanting to see a sex scene or Michael and Sara with a baby or have them just turn it into the equivalent of a romance novel. I think there are much more interesting aspects of this show. Maybe something interesting will come up still, but I'm losing confidence in that.

In all honesty, I'm not necessarily opposed to the incorporation of a romance. However, I think the PB situation is a bit different for several reasons. The biggest issue for me is that the type of "love" they seemed to be trying to sell the audience seemed to come out of nowhere and doesn't seem realistic. The show has taken place over only a few months, and to think Sara is suddenly more important to Michael than Linc is doesn't cut it for me....especially when the first part of the series showed that this wasn't a relationship and could never be one...and that Sara was only a part of Michael's plan...a plan that resulted in her being dragged into this mess and suffering the consequences of his decisions and his actions....thus making him feel a bit guilty and responsible for her...not in love with her.

I'm not opposed to the idea of romance either. I agree with you that the relationship isn't exactly an ideal one. Someone else pointed this out to me and it makes complete sense. Michael was indirectly responsible for Sara's father dying, her losing her job and being framed for various crimes. Honestly, I would hope most women would kick a guy like that who were bringing them down to the curb, but this is TV land so everything is different. It's just not the strong type of character I'd like to see.

I'm actually much more interested in the relationships between Maricruz and Sucre and Pam and Mahone. Sadly I don't know that they'll ever get the actress that played Maricruz back. I'd just like to see if Pam and Mahone are able to reconcile after all that's happened now.

Ah, I don't know, I would love for Sucre to get a happy end, but I never liked Maricruz, she's such a bimbo.
