OMG.... For one second there.... when I first read the title, I thought that you had set up or were encouraging us to join a new religion called 'Wentworth Miller'.... with maybe him as Lead guy.... Oh Lordy, that would have been funny.... sad, but strangely funny...

What religion are you? What religion is anybody? Does it matter at the end of the day? Sorry I don't know.....

Exactly the same thing that I thought!
Went's parents are born again Christians? Somehow I have a hard time believing that.

If anyone could invent their on religion it would be SWC - need I explain why? Granted, it took her more than 3 days to return, but still ...

Well, I think religious beliefs can tell you a lot about a person, so it is of interest to me. For example as hard as it is because he was once in my Top Ten List of Cool Guys I boycott Mel Gibson since he decided to go all religion fundamentalist. Oh and what about your beloved Tom Cruise?

Although, I am so far from being one, I believe that the whole 'Born Again Christians' term is very misunderstood! For some, it is the only way for them to totally know their God! To them, they believe tha Christ paid for their sins, thus relieving them of them, Christ was also punished for their guilt. If you are sick or hurting, Christ carried all your illnesses and pain thus making you well... If you're lost, Christ finds you... They believe that Christ died to be their friend...

Therefore, B.A.Christians believe that their debt to God is therefore paid, all their sins atoned, their enemies defeated and their general health & well being taken care of!!!

They also believe, oddly enough I think... that no church, prayers cermonies, rites, no good deeds, penance etc...etc...etc... can save them, God is the only thing that can save them!
They just believe that they are totally saved the very second they believe in Him, confess to Him etc...

Many in my opinion claim to be this, but fewer actually really reach this... I am nowhere near it and as I say each to their own!
Sorry for the religious lesson... but you did say it interests you Calena...
BTW, I know the above, because one of my closest friends here is a committed BAC... so had told me the basis of her beliefs over coffee one day recently.

So now, one might be likening Sara to Jesus... Oh Lordy... that's a funny thought....

Ahh now, Tom Cruise is a law unto himself... whatever his beliefs are... never been a big fan of him from day one... just didn't see the pull he had on people in Top Gun... and whatever I might have thought of him at all completely went down the plughole when I heard his attempt at an Irish accent in the movie Far& Away... seriously, why didn't somebody stop him there? Didn't anyone care? That was just unforgivable!!!

Religion wise, See, I believe each to their own, I am lucky enough to have a broad variety of different religions in my family! We take people as they come! It's the only way to be!
BTW, AJ has chosen, himself, to get baptised a Christian in September... He wants the whole lot... a suit & tie etc... He is so passionate about these things...

Wow. Far be it from me to insult you or your friend, but seriously. One argument pro religion is that it motivates people to do good (Not that I support that argument, I have a different opinion about this, but I see where it's coming from). As a BAC you don't even have the need to be nice to your fellow humans, you can basically do as you like, if I understand that correctly. That explains a lot about how someone who calls himself Christian can bomb other countries on a whim. I'm torn between admiration for the sheer pragmatism and disgust for the cruelty that conveys.

It totally does, I could rant/discuss about religion for days without pause.

Well, it comes second to my theory of Dean being braver than Jesus, but it's worth a thought, isn't it? It was easier for Jesus to come back, though, because his body was intact.

Well, basically I am of the same opinion, whatever makes one happy one should believe in. The problem is that many religions are out to get more members, to kill members of other religions, are real control freaks and so on. That's where my deep issues with religion come from.
I hope you still love me!

Whereever did he get that idea from? What kind of Christian?

As I have said... Each to their own

Ok, I was brought up a strict catholic in Ireland, in fact so strict that as a family, we were nicknamed 'The Waltons' in church on a sunday cause we used to sit up the top row, in our sunday best... without ever changing our line up...
Funny story about this ordeal enevitably follows... as we four siblings used to sit either side of our parents thus making it nigh impossible to do anything but pay attention in church... we worked out a pretty good system after a bit that well fooled my dad into thinking we actually truly hung on every word of the gospel readings etc...
We used to sit there and then sort of nudge each other and pay rigid attention to maybe 2 mins worth max and then would sort of just then go back into our own little dreamworlds... Later when at home, over dinner and my father asked the enevitable question... 'Smiley, what did you like best about todays reading/scripture etc...etc...etc... we threw up random words... always backed up by whatever siblings who weren't asked the question in the first place... we tended to nod in agreement alot on these occasions too!!! We got away with that one for so long!!!

Later, I did like many others before me did and went away from all that mid way thru my late teens... hit a crossroads, in a matter of words... A few years ago, AJ, aged about three expressed an interest in going to the local church... a christian based one... His friends were going there and we were initially invited by a friend to this church BBQ a year or two after I got divorced... part of their welcome the loners into society type scheme... and we settled for a bit in that church... my parents were going a little mental at this stage cause I had not had him christened Catholic... I truly believed that he himself would find his own way in life when his time was right, a thing like that is not my decision to make... Personally, I don't care what way he goes in life, faith wise, as long as he has made an informed decision and it's not some way out cult thing that sacrifices humans etc.... I, to date have stood by my decision... my parents settled down a while ago to the idea and just a few weeks ago, out of the blue, he announced to me that he wanted to be baptised before the year is out and wanted me to help him make all the arrangements. He felt ready... !!! I dunno... If it's right for him, it will work for him!!!
He's a funny boy, he knows every bit as much about many other religions as he does about his own... he can well hold a conversation/debate about most of them!!!
BTW, he does not actually have to go all black tie for this event, but he is choosing to anyway...

The topic of this thread.... I believe when you open a thread topic as interesting as this one, you can't ask such a private question without at least exploring your own views!!!
Also, for something like a topic like religion, that's supposed to be a really peaceful happy serene thing... It does tend to offend alot of people who don't share certain views! Personally, I may not agree with some views, but I will never ever get angry at anyone elses views on religion!!!
Peace & Love to all, .... I Say!!!!
