It's entirely ok for people not to be obsessed about Went. As long as they let me revel in my obsession about him

I thought the same thing when I first started visiting PB forums. In fact, i wasn't even aware that PB had such a large female fanbase. I always thought it was the type of show I would sit and watch with one of my buddies. I guess when I first started watching the show I was too hooked on the story that they were telling to even notice that there was also a lot of eye candy...maybe I should have been salivating over the weenieworth or something.....I don't know. Anyway, after visiting the numerous forums available on the internet and reading all of the comments that had been posted, I realized the prevalence of celebrity idolization, even though the show--in my mind--was geared toward a more mature audience. The whole celebrity-craze thing is something I have never quite understood and something I always attributed to elevated teen hormones, not something I would have expected from grown, educated women. I would read numerous comments where chicks would go on and on about how perfect and flawless Went is--you know, void of gray hairs, the buff perfectly built body, and flawless skin etc... I just don't see this. Is there something I'm missing?? Are we even watching the same show?? He is not void of gray hairs, he's not buff n tough. I could even point out the bald spot on the top of his head or his really large ears. Now,I am in no way try to point out his flaws here or insult anyone. It's quite the contrary: Yes, he's going gray, doesn't have a bodybuilder's body, and has the largest ears ever seen by mankind, but these are the things I find most appealing about him because they are real. I think he is a very attractive man WITH his imperfections, and I hope that he is one of the few people in Hollywood who realizes this and doesn't try to change himself. I've seen a plethora of interviews and articles about stars doing this sort of thing, and I always find it to be a bit disappointing because all they are doing is selling themselves out and perpetuating the problem. I don't sit and look at all the actors and models I see on TV and edit them inside my mind in order to create a more appeasing visual, and I can't imagine what it is like for someone like himself--liek other celebrities-- whose appearance has taken precedence over everything else. I've watched a few of his interviews, and this has often been the case. The interviewer will spend more time talking about things that are irrelevant to his craft--his personal life and his supposedly peiercing eyes. There are actually people out there who want to hear things that pertain to the show and the actor's process. It's kind of sad because I think some people may become overly conscious of their appearance and therefore feel pressured to live up to the illusions the media has created and society has pepetuated. Do they go on crash diets and hit the gym, have loads of plastic surgery and still feel unhappy with themselves? Or do they simply look at these misguided forms of flattery as annoying at the least? I really don't know, nor can I pretend to. All I can say is that I find it interesting--on both sides. It seems that these individuals have created some sort of illusion for themselves which matches the ideals they have and shows little distinction between fiction (TV) and reality. Somewhere in the midst of this the person behind the charater is lost and replaced with a better, more appealing version that in way dehumanizes him and therefore becomes somewhat of an insult. I'm not going to sit here and type away about how I know what kind of person he is like some other chicks have done. i could get into another, more lengthy discussion about that--one that would tie into the compressed commentary I provided above. I have a tendency to bounce from subject to subject at times, as well as give really lengthy responses...so sorry... With all that being said, just don't take half the **** you see seriously. Once you get on here, it's basically just we girls bull****ing and trying to have somewhat of a good time. There are people on here who actually have a brain.

Seriously now, I'm an adult woman and having a mild celebrity crush on Went is a fun pass-time and by far not the only thing I invest my free time in. Actually what impresses me most about him is that he's a Princeton grad and seems very down to earth. And yeah, I love those piercing eyes and his smile and his voice, sometimes I just have to indulge my inner teenager. I see nothing bad about that. If you choose to become an actor you must be aware that you will be in the public eye and people will fantasise about you and want to know really unimportant things about you. That said, I'd much rather listen to an intelligent question and Went's answer to that than to another "piercing eyes"-question (I can see them. No need to waste precious interview time to talk about them) Never would I fool myself that I know the person Wentworth Miller. (Or any other of my fave celebrities)

I can see where you are coming from, and there's nothing wrong with that acknowledement, but some peopel take it too far. I was browsing the internet the other day, for example, and saw numerous post of girls threatnening harm to the women he has been proported to be dating. Then I found another with a picture of Luke and a target on his head, then another with a gun to hs head. It was immensely disturbing to say the least. That's true: They should know what they are getting into when they become an actor. However, I think that some believe that they can deal with it or that if they avoid going out in public they can escape it. This is not the case and nowhere near it--as Went is a prime example. As far as being educated and 'seeming" to be down to earth, there are plenty of people in this world who fall into that category, so i don't quite understand why this would provoke more of a reaction when he is concerned and why that makes him any more special. In addition to this, I wouldn't go as far to say that he was even down to earth. This is the way I look at it: He has to appear that way for the sake of public relations and his career. He can't walk into an interview, with the cameras rolling, and act like a complete ass. He knows better, I'm sure. Now, that doesn't mean that he really is an ass in real life, only that we all have no way of really knowing. There have been stories circulating that imply both opposing views--and even these aren't necessarily reliable. I am not going to judge the quality of someone's character based on a bunch of segemented editing clips. There is a reason for this you know: they have to make him look as good as possible. A public persona has been created and now there is a pressure for it to be maintained--for the sake of his career and the success of the show. it's sad, but true.

Another character I like very much is Sawyer from Lost. I have read interviews with the actor who plays him, Josh Holloway, where he says he doesn't like reading. That does nothing to impress me, for example. (I still don't understand how you can be an actor if you don't like reading, you have to read the scripts, don't you?) With Sawyer/Josh I love the character, but not the actor. (Josh also has said that he doesn't like Sawyer. How sad is that? Robert Knepper, who plays T-Bag, I just adore for his acting skills. I asume that he is nothing like his character, but he portrays T-Bag in such an awesome way I have the deepest respect for him. Still, I don't have a "crush" on Josh or Rob. With Went I guess it's the combination of things I see in the show and read/see/hear in the interviews, that make me like him. Quote:

Anyway you can't even know of people in real life that you don't know very well if the are an ass. Someone, for example at work, could be nice to you, but bully some other member of your office.
