My was this way even when I was a little kid. And I know for sure I'll never get like that. NEVER will my existence on this earth revolve around cleaning. Aou know that I not easily speak in absolutes, but of this one I'm sure. Completely sure.

It reminds me so much of my grandmother. No matter how much cleaning she does, there is always something else. And when she talks about her day, she acts as if doing a load or two of laundry and putting some dishes in the machine is a day's full of work. And then she blames these things on why she doesn't get out a little more and do stuff...or why she doesn't finish a good book.

And do you think you'll be the same when you get old? Are you aware that you would be contradicting yourself if you say no?

Contradicting myself?? I never said I didn't like to clean...but I have noticed it changes when you live by yourself or are responsible for the household. For me, it's not so bad when I am by myself--I don't mind the mess so much because I am the only one who has to look at it. But, when someone else is living with me, it's clean...clean..clean...maybe not as bad as we have been describing because if you really go at it..you can have it all knocked out of the way in no time. I think, at times, it makes older people feel like they have something to do...and they don't feel so useless and not active...and..plus....you are constantly cleaning after others as well.

Oh. That's true. I just assume that people I like don't like to clean, - I think I must work on this predjudice.

Why would the mess not disturb you when you're alone, but it disturbs you when you live with someone, even when it's there mess? I don't get that.

I suppose it doesn't make much sense...I guess when I am living with someone I feel like the head of the house, like I have to take care of everything...do everything...plus the mess is greater because you have two people living there contributing to the clutter. Not to mention, there is often some method to my messes...I know where everything is...it's not an interference...but when someone comes in and makes a mess of their own...they mess with my mess...then I get confused about my own mess and have to sort through their mess to get to my mess...which means I can't find anything

I kind of understand that, actually. So are you nagging the person to clean up and don't have the patience to wait til they want to, or are you just cleaning it up yourself without even asking the other person to do it?

I am sorry to hear about your grandmother--that is so sad. It reminds me of my great-grandmother, who is pushing 100. She's had some health problems in the past few years, but refuses to go to a home. She has always been a very independent woman..and she doesn't want to lose that. However, since she has chosen to stay at home....she is alone most of the time, with nothing to do. She can't get up and walk around. She can't drive and go to church and be with all her friends. Her contact with others is relegated to those who come in to help her out a bit...but even this doesn't count as a real visit because everyone is too busy taking care of her and the house. And then you see the elderly and how vulnerable they are to scams and abuse. They are so easily tricked into giving away their life savings and then they are left with nothing. Sure, they get ss checks, but it's not enough to sufficiently survive off of--it's just sad.
thank you....but when i read about your great-grandmother so my granny is quite ok compared with you great-grndmother...you know how i said before,my brother is sometimes with her and my uncle hasnt own family so he visits her when he has time off....he is soldier so he has often time off, because he works only few days, but permanently and then he has few days time off....and so he can visit granny....she has health problems, but difference from you great-grandmother is that she goes between people.because every day she goes to church and meet her friends...i think that elderlies have hard time...sorry about them...

Wow! That's exactly how it is with my mum! We should move in together, helps and we should pair our mums up, so they can talk about how to clean things the best way to each other, as I'm sure not interested in that.
you know,i would like to she sometimes switch off and just sit and read some book or watch tv...but she...no way...she seems to me as workaholic...and moreover she compels me clean,too....you know she often reminds me Bree from desperate housewife..lol...have you ever watched that?...Bree is psychotic one...

EXACTLY! I so loved to get lost in a book or a movie, but living with my mother it's just not possible. Yes, I watch Desperate Housewives and Bree is very annoying!

Oh, you are preaching to the converted as far as it's concerning me, I love Jensen. Not in the same way I love Went, but I'm still very very fond of Jensen. Did you watch Dark Angel? He's in it as well and the characer he plays there has some qualities of Dean.
But keep on working on candy and smiley, I think they both sadly don't know what they are missing out on. At least smiley's now watching SPN.
