yea me too but since i dont watch the show i have no idea wat the pokemon are when trainers switch so its pretty hard to fight a pokemon you never heard of

Sometimes u can figure out the type just by the name. Like Charizard for example, char deals with heat so you can safely assume that it is a fire type
