I know that outlandish and sudsy storylines are definitely part of the appeal of watching primetime soaps such as One Tree Hill, but sometimes, you have just have to say enough is enough. Is it just me, or is anybody else having difficulty suspending disbelief that a social welfare agency would willingly hand over Angie – a real baby with actual health problems – over to Brooke, a young woman, barely out of her teenage years, without so much as a background check? To read the rest, click here.

I think you've come on too harsh in this article. I do agree with you regarding the general points made, but I don't think this is a total "out of left field" storyline. I think this may have a stronger meaning towards Brookes character for the last few episodes of this season and into Season 6. And yes, this is OTH! So of course a social welfare agency would hand over a baby to her!! OTH rocks either way <3

This article is harsh, but definitely true. I haven't liked the idea of Brooke with a baby from the beginning, especially because the idea just came out of nowhere. One minute she's getting all naked in the back of a bartender's car in an attempt to woo him, the next minute she declares she wants a baby, and then two episodes later she gets one. Even on TV that's pretty ridiculous.

Wow Debbie, I totally disagree and you are way too harsh! Brooke wanted to have a baby, because seh wanted to prove her mother wrong, and she wanted to be a mother to a child, that her mother was never to her. Also, they did have a background check, remember 5.13? That's the background check. The whole "she used Angie to further her career" is bull. She would never do something like that.

I don't think adopting a baby to prove your mother wrong is the best idea....

Yeah, becoming a mother in order to trounce your own mother is wrong on so many levels.

Yeah, whatever. It's obvious that Brooke really cares about Angie, and not just to "further her career." She's kind putting her career on the line a bit by taking on such a serious responsibility. The line of toddler clothing was probably not intended, I think Brooke became inspired by Angie to do the line. Also, she's not "barely out of her teenage years," she's 22. She's exactly 3 years out of her teenage years. With the teen pregnancy rate skyrocketing more and more these days (Haley), give the girl a break if she wants to have a kid at 22. Also, remember that Brooke had a pregnancy scare of her own when she was still in high school, so even though it was scary she had some time to consider her life with a child. She's probably been thinking about babies ever since then, more so with the birth of her godson. Alright, so Brooke may be trying to fill some sort of gap in her life. And? What is so seriously wrong about that? If she's got a gap in her heart, and a baby would fill that g

Just because I don't want children doesn't mean that everyone doesn't. She's also busy, but she's obviously making time for the child, it's not like she's stuffing it into a closet or forcing it onto a nanny and only letting it out when she wants to play with it. She's taking care of it the best she knows how, and she's learning. She's also situated very nicely to raise a child as far as finances go. Also, by the way, even sick babies smile. I don't think that wanting a child to smile, even a sick one, could ever be taken as an indicator that Brooke is not "responsible" enough to raise a child. She just wants it to smile and is trying to figure out what wil |

will work. There's nothing wrong with that. Also, people like Taraann2 up there are starting to get me really angry. In the interest of preserving the integrity of the show, B-L shippers need to give up all hope. B-L should be FRIENDS and nothing more. L-P is endgame, always has been. It was obvious from episode 1 that they belonged together. And there was the whole thing about Peyton in the episode where Luke almost dies and talks to Keith. That whole episode is rendered basically meaningless if B-L ever get back together. The shippers, especially the rabid B-L shippers, don't seem to care at all about the direction the show takes as long as Brooke and Lucas (omg they are liek sooooooo cuteeeee together y/y?) get back together, and I'm effing sick of it. Let that !@#!@ go, please, so we the rest of us can continue enjoying the series. I swear, if the writers bring back the B-P-L triangle story ONE MORE TIME I am going to scream. 4 seasons of that crap was way too much as it is.
