One Tree Hill: Why Did Lucas and Peyton Break Up?

There's one important mystery that fans of One Tree Hill have been speculating about since the beginning of season 5: what destroyed the relationship between Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Peyton? When we last saw the duo in season 4, they had finally gotten together and things were going strong. Now that it's four years later, they're broken apart and Lucas is dating his book editor, Lindsey. There are a lot of things in that four year gap between seasons that fans are wondering about, but this is one question they'll soon get an answer to. According to TV Guide's Michael Ausiello, the real reason behind the break up will be revealed in the February 5 episode, entitled "Don't Dream It's Over."

I have been wondering why they haven't talked about it more.
I still like Lucas and Brooke together.

apparently it had something to do with when he visited her in LA and apparently proposed to her, I don't know cause if she loved him so much and wanted to be with him why did she turn him down if he did proposed.

There were probably a huge amount of factors. They both had just gotten out of school, they were starting new lives in totally seperate directions and probably one wanted a lot more than the other thought.

i think its def something to do with the proposal i think it was probably moving abit fast for her and so she ended it ! when he went to see her on the rivercourt in the second episode ! she said to him that she knew that they werent meant to be ! so maybe that has something to do with it ! cant wait to see what it is all about though ! x

I hope they stay broken up he belongs with Brooke so what whitey is so over the hill everyone s love is different not the same as everyone easles.Lucas so belongs with Brooke

I LOVE ONE TREE HILL BUT IF LUCAS AND PEYTON DONT GET TOGETHER IT WONT BE A SHOW. I LIKE HALEY AND NATHAN BUT LUCAS AND PEYTON HAVE REAL CHEMTISY. THEY'VE BEEN THROUGH ALOT TOGETHER AND HE SAVES HER ALL THE TIME. ITS TIME FOR THERE HAPPINESS. I DONT LIKE BROOKE AND LUCAS TOGETHER AND IF THAT'S WHERE THERE LEADING TO THEN I PERFER TO WATCH DANCING WITH THE STARS ON MONDAY NIGHT. I LIKE PEYTON AND LUCAS AND THEY HAVE THE CHEMTISY LIKE NOONE ELSE. ONE TREE HILL FAN
