The OC - Mischa Barton as Marissa Cooper

Mischa Barton said farewell to THE OC in May, giving the cold shoulder to the TV show that made her a star. Or that's what FOX wants you to think. More likely, the show's writers and producers worked out a mutually acceptable deal with Mischa and her people to kill her character off.

Why would they do this? Well, besides the Kool-Aid drinking middle-school girls who adore her, no one else can identify a redeeming value in her acting. She is awkward in front of the camera, delivering lines like my grandma reading a buffet menu from her seat at the slot machines twenty yards away, and her movements are gangly-armed and disorienting. "But," you might say, "She is quite attractive". Yes, Mischa Barton is beautiful, but so is everyone else on the show.

your wrong the whoel shoe is ognan be different now without her she was the one that made the shoe who else is gonna do all the things that she used to do will see who is right and who is wrong on thursday

you are wrong.... yes michas movements were akward, and her camera presence wasnt graceful and amazing... but that was the epitimy of her character. marissa was the beautiful akward girl who didnt really fit in her body or who she was.. to me mischa did the best job in the world portraying such a complex character. and to those who think the oc is better without her: get real... its never gonna be the same. to me thats why people loved her character and mischa... she wasnt perfect..but she was REAL!

I really miss Marisa. I think she added just what the show needed. It isn't as exciting without her.

i have to say i whole heartedley agree with this article. she was a terrible actress and i by far prefer willa holland and autumn reeser. marissa character was tired and the writers had already used up most possible story lines, really marissa was one catastrophe following another. just watching mischa deliver the rare comedic line makes me cringe, and so i understand why they stuck to dramatic oh-no-im-such-a-troubled-teen stories. season four of the oc is, in my opinion the best season so far, now that ll the main characters are actually able to do their jobs.

that being said, i wish mischa luck with all her future endeavours

i think the oc needs marissa its not as good without her the whole show is different n summer needs to be herself as well n i love that taylor n ryan r together thats awesome seth n summer beta stay together

i really hope the show doesnt get cancelled....i've read alot about why she had to be cut.....i think she was put threw too much in the 2nd season.....they shud've cut it down a bit...it felt like everything revolved around her...Josh not writting most of the 1st or 2nd season was a BIG BIG MISTAKE..but you learn from them....Misha good look in the movie world..your time on the oc was good...i will miss it.. i jus hope it doesnt get cancelled after season 4..i will be happy if it ends after season 5...b.c from spoilerfix...it looks like up 2 episode 13 stories are going on that cant all of a sudden be cut and heres the season finale...i think 16 is a mistake 20 cud end the season well..but maybe 16 will get them to get to the point.I THINK THAT A ENDING LIKE SEASON 2 IS NEEDED to bring the show back...caleb dead..trey shot... julie and james back together..ppl wanted to see what wud happen next..a omg i have 2 see season 5 ending IS REQUIRED... Josh your a good writter keep it up!..but

I totally love you oscar...every scene marissa was in was pretty bland....sure, everyone was hypnotised by her beauty....but that's all there was.....toward the end she was just blah!.....you know what I mean?

Maybe mischa would prove me wrong in her movie career....but I don't really care...

I'm thoroughly enjoying season 4 without her...also season 1 on the arena channel (you accepted her cause she was new)

I am very disappointed in what you had to say Oscar. I totally have to disagree with you. I think one of the reasons the show is now being cancelled is because Micha's character was terminated. She was a main character and unfortunatly most of the episodes revolved around her. You can't just get rid o f a main character and expect that show willbe fine and will go back to it usual ratings. It has definitely took a toll, and not in a good way.
