What I'd like to see next season for Ryan would be him actually getting some help.

Okay before anyone wonders.. Ryan has an anger management problem. I know half of you are going "um...duh"

but think about it, like seriously. Last season Ryan was punching everyone and its like a joke on the show.. but you know that point where it stops being a joke and your like "Oh here comes scary Ryan.."

So what brings scary Ryan on? Well.. someone doing something to Marissa.

First example: Oliver.. you remember that episode where Ryan just attacked Oliver and people actually had to hold him back? I was with alot of you when I say "SCREW OLIVER! GO RYAN!" but Ryan knew that he couldn't get into another fight, he risked everything.. school, even living with the Cohens remember? Sandy said "Maybe I made a mistake bringing him in here". Ryan almost got kicked out of the house, Ryan almost gave up his new life.. because someone was hurting Marissa

This seasons example: Trey. When Ryan found out what Trey did to Marissa he went..well scary Ryan again. It was his own brother and Ryan was beating the s*** out of him, I almost was like afraid for Trey. I mean he deserved something, but Ryan was smashing his head against the wall. He was in a rage and you know what.. what would have happened if Trey didnt fight back? Ryan could have killed him. Another rage black out.. this time against his own brother.. just because Marissa is in trouble.

So what I'm wondering is when are the Cohens going to relaize that although Ryan is a good guy he needs help controlling his anger. I mean Sandy can give him a talk but we should find out why exactly Ryan is like this. Why Ryan cant control himself when it comes to protecting the people heloves. He like loses himself in his anger.

Final example: Lindsay. When Ryan saw Marissa as an enemy, when Lindsay got drunk. he didnt physically attacked but his words were...damn..

So basically.. I just want to know when Josh is actually going to dig deeper into Ryan and find out why Ryan turned out the way Ryan is...

That's a good idea, he definately has an anger problem, but we always knew that. I agree, it would be nice to delve into his background a little more and see where this has developed from. His dad may be the same. what is he in Prison for? And Trey also has a huge anger problem, Season finale and the first couple of episodes he was introduced demonstrated that.

Noticed indeed. I hope he can put an end to that. Big boys can't solve their problems by decking people.

He cpuld get some help, yeah.. but then it wouldnīt be a soap opera, īcause whether we like it or not (and we do) it is a soap opera and we embrace it with everything that comes with it, i.e. the drunk, the violent, the nerd, the godess, the evil mother, the good mother, etc..
so, if they (the writers) make ryan get anger management clases or a course or whatever it is, theyīll make him either depressive or get hit by a truck, or a priest or something like that īcause in TV you canīt have normal people, and thatīs a fact.

I don't believe that ryan has a real problem, the serial some times has to be more dramatic that's why he is always punching people. In the first season is the mainly reason to get the attention of marissa and seth, because in a way he was protecting them and he was cool.i think he will be boring if he is going to be calm and relaxed in the next episodes.

i don't really think ryan has a problem. I mean, most people don't go around punching people...but most people also don't have psycho killers stalking their girlfriends. I think that he may be a little hot headed, but can anybody blame him for punching the people he does? Ryan is completely justified and should stay the same.

You are overreacting.
He has this raging anger once a year and always someone, who really put him through hell before.
1. Oliver - come on, this kid was a psycho and really good in manipulating others. he knew exactly, which strings to pull to get Ryan to attack. And Ryan was still not really settled in Newport.
2. Trey - has jerking Ryan around his whole life. Getting him involved into his own troubles. And since Trey is Ryans big brother, he really wants to believe in him and trust him. So he gives him new chances all the time and Trey blew them every time. Attacking Marissa in this way and kind of destroying the life, Ryan has build for himself other the last 2 years was just the final screw up.
If your remember, before this final fight, he talked to Trey and simply told him to leave the town, cause he screwed up once again. But trying to rape his brothers girlfriend? Swearing on yxour mom, that your girl has thrown herself on him and lying over and over again? Final straw for a already difficult relationship between the two of them, but I think, most boyfriends would be in rage, if they hear something like this has happened to their girls. especially, if the attack came from someone, you trusted.

All the other fight, Ryan was involved, he was protecting himself or people he cares about and was not really looking for a fight.

In the beginning, he fought often, cause thats the only way, he knew.
But in season 2 he hasn't punched someone, till Trey came back into his life.
He definitely has a temper and is a little hot-headed.
His white-knight-complex lets him jeopardize or even sacrifice his own life a lot.

Seth even joked about it "could you punch someone please for old times sake - fine, I got it, logarithm is the new upper cut"

Allthough the show only gives us little hints and short remarks about it - its obvious, that his crappy life not only involved a drunken mother, but also neglect and domestic abuse. So defending himself with his fists was most likely the only way, he could. Talking about problems probably wasn't really helpful.
And I wished, they would involve Ryan dealing with his ****ty past a lot more in the show, but not for anger management. More likely cause 16 years of this life most likely left scars on his body and soul.
Old issues, he tries to forget, but I don't think, in real life it would be so easy to ignore them.

The one thing, I always wondered:
Ryan was (or is still?) on probation and child services observed his placements with the Cohens. But over all the s***, that happened (fights, drinking, Marissas shoplifting, etc.), we never saw a social worker or parole officer talk to him or Sandy, to discuss the events. Isn't this a little unrealistic?
