You are overreacting.
He has this raging anger once a year and always someone, who really put him through hell before.
1. Oliver - come on, this kid was a psycho and really good in manipulating others. he knew exactly, which strings to pull to get Ryan to attack. And Ryan was still not really settled in Newport.
2. Trey - has jerking Ryan around his whole life. Getting him involved into his own troubles. And since Trey is Ryans big brother, he really wants to believe in him and trust him. So he gives him new chances all the time and Trey blew them every time. Attacking Marissa in this way and kind of destroying the life, Ryan has build for himself other the last 2 years was just the final screw up.
If your remember, before this final fight, he talked to Trey and simply told him to leave the town, cause he screwed up once again. But trying to rape his brothers girlfriend? Swearing on yxour mom, that your girl has thrown herself on him and lying over and over again? Final straw for a already difficult relationship between the two of them, but I think, most boyfriends would be in rage, if they hear something like this has happened to their girls. especially, if the attack came from someone, you trusted.

All the other fight, Ryan was involved, he was protecting himself or people he cares about and was not really looking for a fight.

In the beginning, he fought often, cause thats the only way, he knew.
But in season 2 he hasn't punched someone, till Trey came back into his life.
He definitely has a temper and is a little hot-headed.
His white-knight-complex lets him jeopardize or even sacrifice his own life a lot.

Seth even joked about it "could you punch someone please for old times sake - fine, I got it, logarithm is the new upper cut"

Allthough the show only gives us little hints and short remarks about it - its obvious, that his crappy life not only involved a drunken mother, but also neglect and domestic abuse. So defending himself with his fists was most likely the only way, he could. Talking about problems probably wasn't really helpful.
And I wished, they would involve Ryan dealing with his ****ty past a lot more in the show, but not for anger management. More likely cause 16 years of this life most likely left scars on his body and soul.
Old issues, he tries to forget, but I don't think, in real life it would be so easy to ignore them.

The one thing, I always wondered:
Ryan was (or is still?) on probation and child services observed his placements with the Cohens. But over all the s***, that happened (fights, drinking, Marissas shoplifting, etc.), we never saw a social worker or parole officer talk to him or Sandy, to discuss the events. Isn't this a little unrealistic?
I completely forgot about Ryan being on probation and all. Wouldn't this new run in with the law concerning Trey's injury/death involve Ryan somehow in a "not good for his probation" way? I hope nothing happens to Ryan.. but I would have to agree he does have an anger management problem. He does get enraged to the point of scariness.

I really don't know. Is he still on probation?
The only thing, I remember is Sandy talking about Ryan jeopardizing his probation in Season 1, as he wanted to punch Eddie for hurting Teresa.
But that was a year ago and I'm not sure, if this is still a problem.
Allthough I think, they would have mentioned something important like the end of his probation in the show, but you never know.
If he is still on probation, the fight with Trey could be seen as an assault anfd give him real trouble.

So the person, Sandy talked to in the Season3-promo about a warrant of arrest could be Ryan. But I guess, we have to wait for episode 3x01 to see, who will be arrested.

I think, he already learned to control his anger a lot better. In season 1 he had a lot of fights, in season 2 not one until Trey came along.
And his rage blackout against Trey was really comprehensible.

IMHO the security of a family (in season 1 he still felt very insecure if his stay with the cohens would be permanent, in season 2 he was far more confident about his place in the family) helps him manage his anger and temper.
But I guess, every person has a point, where they can not longer controll therselves and go berserk and Treys actions had this reaction on Ryan.

I wouldn't really say he has that bad of an anger problem. He gets in fights usually to defend himself or someone else. I mean, he would NEVER lay a hand on Marissa in a violent way. And when he found out about what happened in Miami while he was gone...well I think even Seth would have done the same thing if it had happend to Summer! haha it would have turned out totally different I'm sure..but...

Yeh...he does seem to get real angry, but it's because all these things are happening to him, and it's completely normal for him to lash out.

Hmmmm you do have a point there... but Ryan may go A-wall sometimes but seriously it's not his fault if someone was trying to hurt someone he loves. I mean i would go all frantic if i found out someone i luv was being hurt. I guess it's just a way he knows how to deal with things. This probably has to do with his childhood and his surroundings while he was growing up. Maybe this issue of throwing punches mite be addressed in the upcoming season by showing how his childhood was.

That's true. It does seem that he has a anger management problem. I'm sure the Cohens will asses it and then decide if action needs to be taken.
