here is what i found....according to that side the ratings for the first episode of season four have been everything else than good/satisfying....we just can hope that they increase otherwise we can say goodbye to our beloved series...

here's the source of the following quote: mediaweek.com

Quote:
The return of serial The O.C. left Fox at the starting gate on this first night of the November 2006 sweeps. Season four of The O.C. opened with a series-low (and distant fourth-place) 3.38 million viewers and a 1.5 rating/ 3 share among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m., according to Nielsen Media Research data.

Comparably, that was down by an alarming 4.12 million viewers and 55 percent among adults 18-49 from its third-season premiere (on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2005 at 8 p.m.). [/b]
and now tell me again that killing marissa off and by that pissing off many fans was a good idea...

i dont think it was just killing off marissa that has brought the ratings down, well its a big reason but the other reason is, the fact that another 2.6 Million people download the episodes and when they air on tv they cant be stuff watching them again

damn the sucks. All I've been hearing is really good reviews from the show. I think it's a really good season so far!
Wouldn't they be able to get a more accurate count of people viewing from how many people downloaded it on myspace?

It's not only that , that is a big part of it but also that they couldnt put the time and effort into making a funeral for her, letting us see what everyones reactions was when they found out .. thats what i would i loved to see .. instead they make it 5 months later, yeah therwe still morning her but its not that same.. all we get tosee is a grave. God damn it she was one of the main MAIN characters.. i think it was so stupid to kill her off. And I bet my life that the producers (Josh) is most definitly regretting the decision to kill marissa off.

me=ticked off .

Dont give up so fast!

First of all this evening is full with new episodes of GReys Anatomnie and CSI so rating cant be good cuz those shows are smash hits in the US right now.
Second: Episode was availble online one week before by official permission, so many viewers watched it online
Third: The already reacted by testing new slots next week on wednesday and friday (thats the cause of double episodes)

I guess its all more like some marketing campaign (to gather more viewers time by time and then hit the quotes )

First killing off Marissa, and then putting it up against shows like Grey's Anatomy and CSI. I know killing Marissa was the writer's decision, but what was FOX thinking, putting The OC up against such popular shows? Do they WANT it to die an early death?

Its stupid Fox and their marketing. Its not all about what you are selling, but HOW you sell it as well...

Look at the ratings from overseas like Australia. Much more receptive, because their ADS are absolutely fantastic!!

I agree Fox is so retarted. The only reason that I could think could cause low ratings is that Marissa fans stopped watching the show after she was killed off. Or if people lost interest in the show. But I'm still going to watch it, I'm with it till the end lol
