Ok i know this sounds sad but before(pre marissa death) when i watched the oc i saw marissa, but now when i watch the episodes (especially season3), i see mischa not marissa i see the actress not the character. I know this sounds confusing but does anyone agree?!!!!!!!1 x

Wow, I completely agree! In season 3, I kept thinking that Mischa's acting was kind of... I don't know... almost awkward?

I have never thought that Micsha Barton was such a great actor , especially not in season 1 and 2 , in season 3 she got better , and she played a more darker role.

I much preferred her in Season 1 when she was still relatively unknown. THen the whole 'OC golden girl' thing blew her way out of proportion and I think the media building her up was what made fans tear her down. The whole tall poppy syndromePlus I do admit she is a bit of an awkward actress... THen again the character was awkward too. And the only other thingsI've seen her in to gauge how different her acting performance might be was The sixth sense where she spews up under the bed (some mighty fine acting there if you ask me) and some other movie she made when she was a kid with Piper Perabo... Boarding school girls... I don't remember but I think she just kind of hung around and was silent. SO also not much to compare.

Marissa was never one of my favorite characters, infact she was pretty much my least favorite. Sometimes there would be scenes with her and Ryan in it that I would like, or she would say something funny, but that was about it. I've never thought that Mischa was a great actress in any of her movies, even way back in the day when she did that dolphin movie on disney. I think that whoever talked about the media boosting Mischa up was 100% right. I think that once Mischa blew up as The OC Girl that it all went to her head. Cause at first it was just her, Adam, and Ben that were the main kid characters, and Rachel didn't get added into the mix until the middle of the first season. And even after that Rachel's character didn't really turn independent until the 4th season, which is now, up until then it was always SethSummer with no spaces. I mean, Seth kind of had his own issues with his moms alcoholism and stuff, but Summer never had an issue that wasn't Seth related until the 4th season with her grieving over Marissa, changing her entire lifestyle, etc. But yeah.. I think that Mischa just got tired of being on The OC, and thought she was a bigger bad ass then The OC, so she just starting slacking her a.ss off and got fired and killed off the show. But she was never good anyways so it's not like it matters. Taylor fills her shows like 2152468546545465456651236547895415364% better. Haha.

| well marissa's character was the hardest to act - what needing to act stoned one minute and "oh my god, my dad is a grandpa the next". she was the whirlwind life of the show really, and i haven't really realised til i watched an old episode today. in comparison with season 4 which is honestly starting to drag, season 3 episode 11 (where they're taking the old senior photos..it's so sad!) has made me realise i miss the character marissa a lot!! once characters hit the whole college thing, the show's bound to never be as good. i'm sorry to everyone who think this season's still fantastic but..seth&summer don't even have the same oomph anymore? and that was sort've the love chemistry for the whole damn show i.e keeping it all glued together. now it's just one drama after the next and i can't help thinking, yeah .. they've been there and done that with marissa. back to what this whole topic was about (lol), i do agree - you see marissa as MISCHA now, but i guess you have to have sat through the whole series of the OC and then become (very) exposed to mischa barton, the person, in the media. it's always mischa mischa mischa not marissa marissa marissa which (i thought) was what her whole clever move of leaving the OC was all about
