In recent times, Scientology has become more and more the subject of controversy and criticism, but actor Jason Dohring, who stars in CBS' vampire drama Moonlight, claims it is actually what salvaged his career in the entertainment industry.“The misconceptions that occur with people who haven't ever read a book about [Scientology], or don't know what it's about. They're just taking someone else's false opinion of what it is,” Dohring explained to Portrait magazine. “Just for me, it saved my acting career. I became a professional through Scientology… I understand acting better because Scientology is the study of life.” To read the rest, click here.

| Moderator ![]() ![]() | I'm not going to comment on Scientology because religion is just one of those things I don't want to get into on a message board. To each his own. What I can say is this. The two times I've met Jason, he has been nothing but sweet. He's got a quiet intensity about him that can be overwhelming (and even made me a little speachless). Its no wonder he has become famous. I trully think he is a good person. If anyone is in the UK and interested in meeting him, he'll be in London in June: http://www.seanharry.com/breakout2/index.htm I went to that convention last year and it was the best con I'd ever gone to. Soooo much time with the actors. They were all huggy and wanting to talk to their fans. We got to do fun things in the photo ops, and on Sunday when they left both Jason and Michael Muhney stood in the hotel lobby and made sure to say goodbye and give every single person a hug before they left. Most actors don't do that. Jason will wow you with how sweet he is, so if |

I am glad JD found some higher purpose and maybe that is why he is such a great actor. I love him on Moonlight and I hope there a second season.

I started to watch Moonlight, because of Jason. I really liked him in Veronica Mars. For me it was Jason=Logan

Scientology, as proved over and over again, is a big money-making sham. Look it up, seriously.

That said, if it brings Jason some kind of spiritual peace, more power to him. His family is rich as hell, they can give all they want to that Science fiction writer. Just don't try and convert me, because its not happening. Jason is second generation Scientologist, so its kind of like being raised in any religion (especially one that is as cult like as Scientology seems to me) you're brought up believing something. It may seem insane to us, but that is what he's known all his life.

It's hard for me to rag on Scientology because, in the words of Bill Maher, all religions are equally crazy. Really, what's the difference between Zenu and the Devil? If whatever stupid thing you believe in makes you a better person, then good for you. Just don't go talking about it or trying to get other people to believe what you believe.

All I wanted to say is this. Respect the religious beliefs of others. That is one of the things that Scientologist believe. Jason should have the right to his beliefs, you shouldn't think less of him because of them. He is giving you a gift with his acting and skills.
