moonlightThanks to fans' relentless efforts to support and promote Moonlight, the supernatural series was named “Favorite New TV Drama” on Wednesday's telecast of the 34th Annul People's Choice Awards on the CBS Television Network.

The award was accepted by Moonlight's lead star Alex O'Loughlin, who plays a charming private investigator who struggles with his immortality as a vampire, on behalf of the cast and crew via video from Australia.  The series also stars Sophia Myles (Beth Turner), Jason Dohring (Josef Konstan), and Shannyn Sossamon (Coraline).

The People's Choice Awards are awful, and this is just one example why. The people shouldn't be trusted to choose anything at all.

Moonlight is a great show! There are such freakin\' elitist out there that will condemn Moonlight but justify recycled crap like Gossip Girl. This is a great show with heart. Clearly, 10million people versus a minority of haters says a whole lot. I\'m proud of this show because it has had nothing but adversity since the beginning from snobby critics and obsessive buffy/angel fans who can\'t let go.

This show is definitely brought up a notch by a great revised ensemble of Sophia Myles, Shannon Sossamon, Alex O\'Loughlin and Jason Dohring. Actors whose charismatic onscreen presence has done a stellar job for the show as well.

At the end of it all? Moonlight is what it is: a vampire (immortal) dealing with mortal feelings amid the backdrop of a noir-like LA setting.

I LOVE this show!
I wouldn't classify it as a "vampire show"..Its more of a crime-drama/mystery/love story--plenty of excitement, (even if it just looking at "Mick")
All the acting is superb, with the exception of poor Shannon Sossamon who can not act her way out of a paper bag!--She is great as long as she doesn't open her mouth---poor thing!--she should stick to being a model-she IS beautiful and quite good at looking sexy provocative.
Alex, however, is a great actor..if his ability wasn't obvious before the episode when Josef "gets murdered."
I'm glad they are dragging out the Beth/Mick relationship. It is never-racking...but there is no other way to keep the tension in the plot.
THE PEOPLE (of people's choice) GOT THIS ONE RIGHT!!

Moonlight won because it had the largest number of dedicated fans. Other new shows might have a lot of fans, but they obviously weren't the type to return to the pca site to keep voting. Private Practice viewers, for example, don't strike me as being so in love with the show that they would go every day to vote.
