'Moonlight' Star Talks About His Fascination to Vampires

Growing up in Australia, Alex O'Loughlin developed a strong fondness for the uncanny. After learning about the Vampire Chronicles of Anne Rice during his teens, he immediately developed an obsession with the eerie genre and even hoped to portray a vampire someday. Now, he is living his dream as private investigator and vampire Mick St. John on the CBS series Moonlight.

While O'Loughlin enjoys other books and films that depict vampire stories, including Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Lost Boys and The Hunger, he says that he is most fascinated with the novels of Anne Rice, which also serves as his inspiration in playing his character on the supernatural drama pilot.

Moonlight is the best show currently on television. I applaud CBS for taking a chance with this show. It only gets better and better with each episode.

I, my son and another Moonlight fan from www.moonlightfans.com visited the Warner Bros studio yesterday and brought pizza to the striking writers. We will be doing this each week, as donations allow.

I also wanted to publicly thank Jason Dohring for coming out and being so sweet and kind to some of his appreciative and /squeeing fans.

I pray this dratted strike won't drive a stake into all our hearts! This IS the best thing I've seen for years! Keep it going CBS! While I can feel for the writers and really do support their grievance, part of me just wishes it would all go away! Why this season? Why this time? I'm a member of Moonlightfans as well, and as such am greatly concerned about the future of our obsession!

It was slow on the start up, but has really picked up momentum. This is fast becoming my favorite show -- please keep it around CBS!

The strike could be the worst thing possible to happen to Moonlight. There's talk of some new shows contemplating on whether to keep them or not.

Alex is a face I want to look at every week. Why aren't there men like that where I live.Like to know something though? Wheres the Ausy accent? Best of luck with the show.

I agree, Moonlight is awesome!!! I like it better when its Beth not the X ! She doesn't have the spark with Mick.

Everyone should take the time to go to the people choice awards site and vote for Moonlight as best new show. Alex is too sexy and needs to stay around for awhile. While he does not have his Ausy accent on the show, in person he has the most sexy accent you could want to hear. Don't forget to vote! Keep the Vamp alive!

It's a great show. Interesting to read he liked Rice's Vampire Chronicles because that is what the show is feeling more and more like. Really enjoyed last night's show. Love having more Dohring in the mix and the story line with is she or is she not Coroline, very intriguing. I love Alex O'Loughlin, he's become my favorite actor. He's gorgeous, talented and sexy.
