MoonlightAll this week, now one month into the Fall TV season, BuddyTV takes a hard look at the new shows to determine which ones we were right about, and which ones have surprised us the most, both positively and negatively.

I have been a devotee of vampires and vampire-related television for a very long time now. I've watched every single episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer multiple times and can sing along with the bulk of the insanely genius musical episode. ("This is my verse, hello!") I even line up at my local comic book store the first Wednesday of every month to get the newest issue of the Buffy Season 8 comic book that is published by Dark Horse. And I loved Angel too. While it faltered a bit toward the middle and end, it had some great moments like the time Angel got turned into a muppet.  So, when I heard that there would be a new show called Moonlight about a vampire who's also a private investigator, I really wanted it to work

I completely disagree. I love the show! It's a great compliment to Ghost Whisperer!

I agree with you, it is not a good show.

You're obviously watching this with a very closed mind, or you're looking for Buffy 2 which is not going to happen. I think Moonlight is a fantastic show that offers a different take on the vampire genre (and there's 1001 different vampire lore's out there, Whedon's take isn't gospel). Also, if you paid attention to the storyline you would see why Mick is a private investigator and that he was more then just "woozy" when caught in the desert. If you're going to unjustly attack a show, please pay a little more attention to it first.

Moonlight is the best thing to come to television in a very long time, and each week, it only gets better and better.

This isn't Buffy or Angel or Charmed, and it isn't trying to be. This isn't the demon of the week show. It's about vampires and humans. That's it. And you're not going to be seeing a bunch of angsty teenagers.

I like that and I love Moonlight.

I agree with the previous two commenters. I really don't care at all how you think it stacks up against other TV shows, or how the writers' concept of a vampire differs from yours. If you were really a fan of vampire shows, you would've drawn the much more obvious comparison between Moonlight and Forever Knight, but no, you talk about Buffy, Angel, and Blade.

I agree with the writer, this show suffers from lack of charisma in the male lead, and lack of chemistry between the male and female leads. Not only that, but the OBVIOUS show that it totally rips off is Lifetime's "Blood Ties" based on a series of novels. Blood Ties is on Lifetime Fridays at 11pm, it's a Canadian import and much better than this show. I'm surprised they don't sue the producers of Moonlight for ripping off the entire premise. Check out Blood Ties, it's pretty good.

Well, Moonlight is something different. It takes your average vampire and creates it into something unique, nothing really heard of before. You're apparently not very open minded towards these things, Debbie Chang. I myself have to disagree with you. Moonlight is becoming one of my favorite shows. And no, it's not as perfect as Buffy or any other vampire shows out there, but hey...it'll do. Beth and Mick together have a lot of chemistry in my opinion. You don't need tension to have good chemistry. And too, I think (if the shows lasts) that things will start getting...dramatic, if you'd like to say. I have a feeling that Moonlight's one of those shows that you have to stick around for just a little while to see how amazing it can be. And if you decide to be a whinebag and give up on it, you're going to miss out. If you do, tough luck.

Moonlight is the best new show of the fall season and I think that "Fever" was an awesome episode! I have watched it several times this week. Each week the episodes get better!

I am very glad to hear CBS has ordered more scripts and keep hoping for a pickup of the full season. The show is doing well and is increasing its viewer base. Moonlight has mystery, suspense, drama, romance, fantasy, witty dialogue, solid characters and humor. It is the best new show I have watched in a long time and I am anxiously awaiting each new episode.

It is a refreshing change from the standard detective shows and the chemistry between the cast members is phenomenal! Gorgeous Alex O'Loughlin does an excellent job in the portrayal of Mick St. John and beautiful Sophia Myles is perfect for her role. Mick also has a best friend named Josef, who is an old vampire, that has very different views on humans. Jason Dohring plays Josef and is a real plus to the show. Jason's delivery of Josef's witty

Okay I *really* wanted to like this show too. I love Jason Dohring and vampires are pretty cool. I don't have Angel or Buffy as scorecards for the show to live up to, but after watching it, I have to say, it has some of the worst acting I've ever seen. Jason is about the only person I believe and everyone else I was just grimacing through the episode. This show fell flat on its face as far as I'm concerned and I'm someone who really wanted it to work and was excited about it. I completely agree with the reviewer.
