Default What is dead? Is Claire dead?

Hey.
So some people may have heard the theory or guessed that Claire is actually dead. There have been a few clues such as the explosion she was in, her walking off with her dead father, and her presence in Jacobs cabin. Now Carlton and David have stated in a recent interview that viewers should not asked whether she is dead but what is dead.
My theory on death is that is the consciousness of a person is released. In a similar manner to Desmond in "the constant" but they unlike Desmond it not released back to their body.
Instead there concious is free to roam through the dimensions of time and space.
This is how Charlie visits Hurley or Christian appears to Jack. Maybe Locke and Rose arent healed but actually dead. Although that seems more of a stretch.
The island could be some portal or place for the dead to come. The whispers could be the dead of the island. In one of the whispers transcipts it says something olong the line of "should we just show our selves?" maybe this means they should project their concious.
Maybe Walt has a power to project his consiousness to places it shouldnt be just like the question Miss Klugh asked Michael when they kidnapped Walt. Anyways im rambling. Share your thoughts!

I agree with this. The true self is the consciousness. the soul, the spirit, and the body is a shell. In the real world, when this spirit is released, those still "living" cannot see it. However, the Island awakens some inner sight, or else it has some properties that make the spirit visible, and thus death becomes merely a physical thing. It is why Charlie is "dead, but here." It is why Christian Shepherd's body wasn't in the coffin, but instead is wandering around the Island. It is why Horace Goodspeed was able to give a message to Locke, 12 years after his murder. Death on the Island is not quite death, because something there allows the spirit to live on in unusual ways.

Not explicitly. If you want to theorize that, you wouldn't be alone. But Sawyer pulls her out, she is alive or seemingly alive, and few days later walks into the woods with her supposedly dead father. So take that as you will, but the show did not explicitly show her dead. It's questionable.

Default Claire has seen the light.

I think she's just entered into the weird plane of existence where Jacob and that Richard guy seem to exist.
