Default The Timeline/ Bubble Theory

Here is a theory on what is happening on Lost. I beleive that lost deals with the
concept of multiple timelines. That is that there are multiple, possibly infinite
realities where diffent events and outcomes are possible. I believe that the Dharma
initiative had figured a way to create a "bubble" around the island that isolated it
from other timelines. This could have been the purpose of the "Swan Station". The
station used the unique electromagentic properties of the island to create the bubble
and isolate it from normal time. Why would they want to do this - more on that in a later thread.

LATE PUSHING THE BUTTON
Now, everything was fine as long as someone was in the hatch to press the button. The
island was shielded from all timelines which allowed the people on the island to
persue their experiments. But then Desmond was late pushing the button after
accidentally killing Kelvin Edmund. Desmond said that it was this that caused Oceanic
815 to crash. This was the least of what he did. When he failed to push the button
on time, I believe that the island shifted and intersected one of the timelines,
let's just say that it intersected timeline A. 815(A) was pulled into the bubble and
broke apart and landed on the island. Another Oceanic 815(b) in timeline B broke
apart and fell into the ocean apparently into the Sunda Trench. So in timeline A
Oceanic 815(a) dissapeared without a trace. In timeline B Oceanic 815(b) broke up and
fell to the bottom of the ocean. All aboard were killed.

TURNING THE KEY
When Desmond turned the key it basically collapsed or dissapated the bubble. This is
what happened when the sky "turned purple" and the island vibrated. the island was
re-entering normal spacetime. But it entered the incorrect timeline for our
survivors. Our survivors were pulled from timeline A BUT RETURNED TO TIMELINE B. the
first clue for this is when Naomi said 815 was found and all aboard were dead. Our
survivors have returned to a timeline that already said they died - in essence a
paradox now exists. This is why Jack's life after leaving the island is so miserable -
he is in a timeline that doesn't want him because he doesn't belong in it ("The
Universe has a way of course correcting"). This could explain why the pilot that was
shown on the TV didn't have his wedding ring on. Perhaps in this timeline he never
married. I'll bet that the pilot that the smoke monster left in the trees had a
wedding ring on. This could also explain why Penny doesn't know anything about the
boat. It is the Penny from timeline B. At the end of season 2 we saw Penny from
timeline A (when the guys at the north pole said "we've found it")

WHAT TO DO NOW?
The simple solution is to put the island back in the bubble and let it intersect the
timeline A and allow our survivors to get off the island in that timeline since that
is the one they are from. But since "The Swan" no longer exists that may not be
possible. If that is the case, then our survivors should never leave the Island.

This is just my idea of what i think is happening. Hey Carlton and Damon - what do I win?

The writers have said there is no alternate reality involved.

Also...... the bubble may be the reason women can't get pregnant and survive on the island. If you are isolated from other timelines, you can't create something that doesn't exist in another timeline. If that is the case, the body might perceive the fetus as an invader and attack it. This might be why women who conceive on the Island die but those who conceive off island survive.

Take Clare. She conceived off island. In another timeline, she might not have gotten on the plane. She might have stayed in Austrailia and given birth there. In other words, clare and arron exist in infinite timelines with infinite possible outcomes. But if you conceive on the island while under the bubble, the child doesn;t really exist - he/she is conceived in imaginary space not real space. Just a thought.
