Default where the story-telling MIGHT be going

ok so the emphasis on might should be obvious. this is just my idea of whats going to go down for the rest of the show, and it is very general. if anyone read the ew.com interview with cuse and lindleof, you will know some of the stuff i am talking about. if not, go find it. they state that there will be at least two big payoffs at the end of this season. one is who was in the coffin, and the other is who gets off the island and how. it is the second one that is important to what i am thinking. ok, so this season ends with he 6 getting off. i believe that season 5 deals with two stories, whats going on with those off the island and those still there. the series concludes with the major arc being those who want to go back trying to get back. so in other words, the flash forwards in through the looking glass not being the culminating endpoint to the entire story, but rather the endpoint for the story happening now (getting off the island and how the oceanic 6 and maybe various others deal with the aftermath) and also a jumping off point for the story to come (at least the major story arc of season 5, and maybe the whole rest of the series). in that same interview they imply that the flash forwards are being show chronologically. in other words, that jack and kate in TTLG is what we are building up to. but that doesnt mean its the end of everything. i hope that makes some sense.

i meant to add that i am sticking to the theory ive had for a while that they will eventually do an island-centric episode. i know that might sound kind of corny, but it would also be a very concise way of clearing up at least a couple of larger mysteries. i know it might be an easy route for the writers to go, but admit it, an episode with island flashbacks would most likely be awesome.

ok i should have clarified. obviously we couldnt focus on a tree or 6 minutes and then fade into a flashback of the tree years ago. i am thinking something along the lines of a jacob-centric episode that would span the history of the island. i dont guess it has to be jacob, because i am certainly not going to speculate that he is someone who will even be able to have a centric episode. its just that he is the only character that i can think of with the sufficient connection to the island to provide such a series of flashbacks.
