Well now that we know Bens off the island that should shed some light on our remaining mystery of who was in the casket from last seasons finale. Ben of course! Jack wants desparatly to go back to the island, seeing the obituary and knowing that the person who died was the ONLY person who could lead him back,Jack decides to commit suicide. When Jack goes to the funeral there was no one else there, why would there be, Ben didnt have any family,or even friends, off the island. When asked if he (Jack) were friend or family he responded neither, we all know their relationship. And finally when Jack asked Kate if she was going to the funeral she said "why would I?" Obviously Ben didnt have too many supporters! Well thats my theory...please lemme know what you think.

locke will lose his ability to talk and cut his legs off (or some thought) and be put in the coffin. confirms why hurley doesnt go to the funeral (hates locke), kate doesnt go to the funeral (hates locke) and sayid isnt bothered. jack cries because locke was the only one who told jack they were meant to stay, and jack hates being wrong. future jack is a total locke. 'we have to be on the island, eberyone must be with me there, i was wrong in the past, im right now'. the coffins so small because locke loses his legs :P just a guess

LOL I proposed the cut-off-legs thing as well but that seems like a stretch. I'm still guessing it's Michael. Possibly Ben but the signs point to Michael.

After watchin eggtown, id have to say its Claire in the coffin. heres why: think about jacks reaction to kate at the end of the episode, when she asks him to see the baby, Aaron. why does he get uncomfortable? because he feels guilty about something? Guilty enough to committ suicide when he sees claires name in the obituaries? Why would he be so profoundly affected by anyone elses death? why would he want to kill himself if he found out locke was dead, or ben, or michael, or sawyer, etc. Think back to the funeral parlor. Jack is asked whether this person is friend or family. he says niether when in fact, he should say both. they were friends on the island and it was earlier revealed that Christian Shepard is claires father too. But, he says no to friend because he feels guilty about her death. He says no to family because he doesn't know shes his half sister, how would he know? thier only connection, christian, died before they met. He doesn't want to see her because he feels responsible. also, when he found out about claires death why does he try to contact kate three times, specifically kate, why not hurley? becuase kate is taking care of claires child. when jack meets kate at the the airport and she says "why would i go?" does she also feel guilty. or does she not want to be connected to claire for fear of aaron being taken away. she is very protective of aarons identity. she wouldn't let her own mother see "her" baby. it does seem unlikley that no one would go to claires funeral, she was a very likable person. but she doesnt have much family and all her friends would be overseas. (she was from australia right?) anyway, just wanted to get this these thoughts out there.

oh yeah, i forgot to address the fact that people are saying that the newspaper clip visibly reads "man found" she might be listed under an alias, different name, different gender even, why not. the story the o6 are telling is 8 crash survivors, ultimatley only 6. but remember desmonds vision had claire getting on a helicopter with aaron. but this would clash with the story the o6 are telling, hence the alias. kinda farfetch'd but oh well.

i wouldnt be surprised if it was ben in the coffin, but i dont see why he'd care so much about bens death, except that if only one person could take jack back to the island, it would be ben. but i remember jack seemed kinda surprised when the funeral manager told him he was the only one to show up. why would Jack be surprised that no one came? ben has no friends, no family, and i think its safe to say NO ONE likes him at all. so why is jack surprised?

another interesting point is that penny's dad bought the journal and possibly set desmond out on a guinea pig mission to find the place and maybe strand him from getting back. | |
