| During the first interrogation cut scene of the season 3 finale, Charlie is being interrogated by the two women that were living in the underwater station. After beating him a couple of times, Charlie tells them that Juliet told the ”Losties” about the underwater station and that she (Juliet) is one of them now. Once they hear this information, the women decide to break radio silence and inform Ben about all this. While it isn't mentioned on the episode whether or not the door that leads to the communications room can be locked, or opened for that matter, from the outside. The blonde woman is seen, although briefly, unlocking and opening the door using the wheel on the door’s center. If, and only if, the door can be locked and unlocked from the outside and it swings open outside as well, then how come Desmond didn’t try to open the door from the outside saving Charlie in return. Why did he waste time looking for a fire extinguisher? All he had to do was turn the wheel, pull open the door and then they both could get the scuba gear we saw earlier and escape. I mean, the rate at which the water was coming in through the window would have given them plenty of time to get the scuba gear and escape. The only problem that I see with this theory is the method which is used to lock the door from the inside. When Charlie locks himself inside the comms room, he uses what appear to be latches, and this method of locking the door does not coincide with the method the blonde lady uses to open the door earlier. In the upcoming season 4, if Desmond continues to have his “futuristic” flashes, and the issue with the door isn’t a continuity problem and it sort of works the way I think it does, then why can’t Desmond try to save Charlie? Desmond could go into the comm room with Charlie instead of leaving him alone. This way, Charlie won’t try to be a Hero by himself and Desmond can at least see his girlfriend for at least a minute or so. Then they could get the scuba gear and escape together. As I mentioned earlier, at the rate the water was coming into the underwater station, they would have had enough time to escape from it. Maybe I am reading too much into the whole Charlie situation, but if Charlie were to come back the next season. Would the writers tell us right away? Would the actors name appear on any upcoming information anywhere on the internet or printed material? Or would they want us to think he is dead, only to resurrect him next season? I think it all depends on the two things I mentioned before on this post. The door locking mechanism, and Desmonds continuance of having “visions” *By the way, there is a continuity issue in the underwater station scene when the blonde lady opens the door water tight door to the comm. room. Just after Charlie says “Lets call Ben”, there is a shot of the blond woman looking at Charlie. The next shot is of Charlie from a slightly different angle, and you can see the blonde woman walking towards the communications room. In that same shot you can see that the door to the radio room is open. You can see the computers inside, and on the shot right after the brunette lady, you can see the blonde lady opening the door. |

| Imediately after the finale aired the ch 7 news here in LA ran a teaser to confirm if Charlie was really dead. I got a call as soon as they aired that pert of the program and I was unable to find out what the news said about it. I believe they also interviewed Ben in the newscast. If someone could look into that It could be interesting to find out what they say really happened to Charlie. |

| Technically we never really see Charlie dead. The last scene of Charlie is him on his knees with the water rushing in and he does the sign of the cross. Whats to say Desmond doesnt open the door, drag Charlie out and they throw on the scuba gear and swim back to the surface? We dont know right now but Im sure s4 will solve all our questions on whether he is actually dead.
