so .. it appears that Jacob is also the invisable guy from Heroes. Or maybe its Peter. This new, jacob thing puts a new twists on things. I'm starting to think now, that maybe jacob has a lot more to do with the four toed statue people, then to the human inhabitants. And why did Jacob ask Locke for help .. Don't get it. What are your guys thoughts on the show tonight ..? "the man behind the curtain""

Jacob in the bible is the 23rd descendant of Adam and Eve. There's our favorite number again! Not to mention that one of Jacob's children is Benjamin, whose mother died in childbirth. Just a couple interesting facts. Maybe the island is the garden of Eden, and our "Adam and Eve" are actually the real deal. Maybe Jcob has been on the island since his ancestors 1000s of years ago. What if the " box " Ben spoke of is the Ark of Covenants? I never thought I would look biblically into this show, but a lot of what has happened recently is ringing some very religious bells.

I decided to do a little research myslef on this Jacob thing and looked here Jacob's Ladder (Bible) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Might this help to explain why Ben would have been able to see his mom? Maybe too deep into the subject or the wrong direction. Oh well. ![]()

In seeing the still image, Jacob actually looks very similar to Ben's father when they first arrived on the island. They seem to have matching hair length, and similarities in the shapes of their nose and forehead. Could it be that Jacob is a manifestation created by Ben, and that this character Ben created was in the image of his father. Does Ben have a gift, similar to Walt's ability to spawn a polar bear on the island? Ben seems to be the type of person who doesn't wish to be intimidated by other people. Yet he can't help but to feel intimidated by his father. Which would be why Ben would take orders from him. It's almost like the bad guy from Psycho who would talk to, and follow instructions, from his dead mother who he loved, and hated. Only Ben isn't schizophrenic, like Psycho. Through the island, Ben's imagination has created the image of his father. In addition, the more we find out about Ben, the more it seems like he's loosing control over the others; if he had any control at all. Since Richard (who seem to have the "Neverland" gift from the island) is a natural inhabitant, it seems that he's really the one with the plan. Ben simply thinks that he's somewhat in charge because of Jacob. P.S. I like how in Ben's flashback he used a white rabbit to aid his escape. It was an amusing inclusion that brought back memories of all the metaphorical white rabbits of the past.

When Ben addresses him, he says, "Sawy..." and then Locke interrupts. When you hear the voice, it sounds like Sawyer. Just a thought. I wonder if someone could use their technology to compare noses and/or profiles? History show that this is unlikely.

It seems as though Jacob could be real, we just cant see him. Maybe Ben is right when he says only he could see him. Maybe the island did give him certain powers. But this episode and the previews for next week really showed us how ruthless and a bit evil Ben could be, despite his sad childhood. MAybe he is the one holding Jacob captive. And maybe the selected losties are the only ones who could save the others and everyone else from Ben. But then again...what about "Jacob's list". Why would Ben give orders for the others to retrieve the people on Jacob's list if Ben is holding him captive. I dont know Im arguing with myself. Anyone else have these moments?

Also, Sawyer was the one who killed a "father"-type individual, even if it wasn't his own. Watch it again and listen. This is just the sort of thing that would throw y'all off course.

| Moderator ![]() | Looks like Jacob is tired of Ben's manipulation...especially if he spoke to Locke and asked for help. Explains the circle of ash -- it keeps Jacob from straying beyond his border and gives Ben more power than he deserves. |
