| Ok, one big theory on Lost is that time moves differently on the Island. I'm not totally sold on the idea, at least not until a certain event happened in the show. Here's what I mean... If time has always moved much faster on the Island than in the normal world, than some things don't make sense, especially in Juliette's episode. When the plane was crashing and we saw Mikhail watching the news of the crash, the footage he was getting would have had to have been in a bit of a distant future if time on the Island moves much faster. Now, that can be accepted somewhat. Here's what I can't except. When Ben showed Juliette footage of her sister being alive with a child, he was communicating with the guy filming her in real time. It doesn't make sense to me that the writers would have time traveling much faster on the island, but having live footage of the real world where time is appearing to travel at the same speed. Maybe they could explain it somewhat, but I just don't seem them going in that direction. Now here's what I meant by "at least not until a certain event". Desmond turning the key. Possibility 1: What if DHARMA was harnessing the power of that station to do occasional time experiments. When Desmond had to turn the key, it sped up time on the island. Possibly permanently or maybe it was just a quick reaction, like it sent the Island ahead 5 years into the future. Possibility 2: It wasn't turning the key that was moving the Island forward, time may have sped up during those moments where the swan was going crazy and everything metal was being dragged to the magnet, and turning the key not only stopped the island from moving through time, but also sent out an EMP type thing to destroy all the communication between the island and the outside world. Now they're in the future, with no way to talk to the outside world. The idea that time only moved differently when the numbers weren't entered could also kind of explain how there are two planes/survivors. After Desmond killed Kelvin, the 108 mins was already up, and time started moving and doing weird things by the time he got back. The computer already read "system failure", and it was just by shear luck that he was able to enter the numbers in and stop it, but not before time had sped up a little and possibly made to copies of the plane. Desmond finally entering in the numbers after things have already gone crazy may have shocked the plane into splitting in two, where one crashed on the island, and another crashed a little past the island(maybe the plane was a little but further along as it was a little further in the future) and landed in the Ocean and drifted to land where it was found. I also don't think the others meant for those certain people(Jack/Locke/Kate/Sawyer...) to be on the plane when it crashed. They all seemed genuinely surprised when they saw a huge plane crashing on their Island. I think that whole deal has to do with fate. I believe Desmond was put there on purpose by people, because of the whole Widmore thing, but I think the castaways were brought there by some force bigger than the others. Anyone agree? |
