Swan may have been suck in the past because of the lack of attention to the station through the decades - and because it seems to have a bitchin' collection of pristine vinyl. CDs would be a natural progression for an inhabited community. At least the Others seemed to have been spared the video and audio revolutions that were Betamax and DAT.

Ben did not impregnate Danielle. Ben is not Alex's biological father. Rousseau was pregnant by her husband/lover Robert when they arrived on the island. She gave birth a few weeks after arriving, and then Alex was taken from her two weeks later.

Cassettes became popular in the 80's because of portability, yes. But the Swan is obviously a physical location, so they'd want to have records in there. No need for tapes. Regardless, I said 1975-1980, not the 80's.

My thought on why the pearl orientation vid was on vhs and the swan on film was to do with the magnetic effect of the swan station. As you probably know magnets wipe vhs' magnetic tape, while the film would be ok because it is already developed.

I thought that too, which makes it harder to determine which was actually filmed first.
