I hope so I think dynamite from the black rock could be a possible way the statue is destroyed.

We know it was still there when Black Rock arrived. By 2004, it looked like it had been toppled long ago. Black Rock probably had something to do with it. Could be dynamite or could be caused by the same phenomenon that sent the ship to the middle of the island, a tsunami maybe. It will be very interesting to see the Black Rock back story. It could be as complex as the 815er's story, but they'll probably cover it in one episode. It's always interested me that it appears to be a slave ship, though there's no historical record of it being so. It was on a trading mission. I wonder if there was some kind of mutiny onboard or if pirates took over the ship. That could be part of the crew we saw shackled. I think Richard is one of the original mutineers or pirates.

In LOST everything is possible so I think that it is safe to consider all the possibilities.
