Default Jack in Pilot

Ok, caught the pilot again the other night when I was switching through stations. Every time I watch that episode, there are a couple of things that always stick out to me. One, where does Kate end up and the crash. We know she walks out of the jungle to find Jack on the beach. Obviously, she was in the jungle, since Walt finds her handcuffs in a later episode. But she is the only one that is not shown, other than Jack, around the crash site on the beach. I always wonder the significance on this??

My other observation is , when smokey is after them at the cockpit area, Jack goes back and helps Charlie. Charlie then shows up with Kate, but not Jack. Kate and Charlie go back and finally run into him where they find the pilot in the tree, and Jack just happens to walk out of the jungle. He acts kind of mysterious to me at that point, saying smokey was right behind him and he dove into a bush. Well, I would think a bush wouldn't stop it from grabbing Jack if it wanted too. I have always wondered if Jack had some type of vision of Smokey, much like Locke did in Walkabout that we have never seen and all.

Thoughts.

Just watched the pilot again last night. The producers have said that there is a huge clue that people are missing in the pilot. One thing I noticed that I had not before was white shoe hanging from a tree after Jack wakes up and runs toward the crash. I cannot for the life of me figure out what it means. Kate, Sayid, and Sawyer are no where to be found at the crash site. They don't show up until the dust settles. When Kate runs into Jack and sews his wound it seems like she knows more than she's letting on. Jack's jump into the bushes story doesn't seem likely but I found Charlie's explanation of what happened a little cryptic. "I was dead. But Jack came back for me." Going back for people seems to be a reaccuring theme. It's weird to go back and watch, knowing what we now know. Which stilll isn't a heck of a whole lot.
