What happens when you burn something on a fire?

It smokes.....

The smoke monster is a sort of "living magical entity"
Jacob is a sort of "living magical entity"

Maybe Jacob is not "fully dead" but instead "transformed" and he is the smoke monster.

MIB probally just kicked him in the fire for "dramatic effect" but sometimes the little things in lost can mean a lot.

or maybe since MIB said "it always ends the same, they come they destroy, they fight" maybe during one of these "past times" Jacob burned MIB in a fire and thats why he wanted to kick his body in a fire.

If by MIB pushing Jacob into the fire causing Jacob to become the smoke monster, then that was in 2007 or so. How could it be back in 2004 when the Losties first crashed on the island, or does it mean two smoke monsters, white and black.
