| I was re-watching the finale yesterday and my wife, who actually got me into Lost but has since given up on the show though she still watches and knitpicks every detail she can, made an observation as I was thinking it. Juliet's and Sawyer's flashbacks seem to be taking place in modern times. There is nothing in Sawyer's flashback that indicates it is taking place in 1976 other than what he says to Jack. The people, the cars, and the style of dress all seem recent. Even the one of the pall bearers at the Ford Funeral has a shaved head and I don't think that look became popular or even socially acceptable until the 90's. Let's face it, Telly Savalas was many things, but a trendsetter was not one of them. Juliet's flashback would have had to have taken place at least 25 years ago and nothing about her house or the way any member of her family was dressed indicated that that was the case. Where are the shoulder pads, the perms, the Miami Vice playa suit? It just strikes me as strange that a show that is usually very mindful of the details would let this stuff slide. And I have not seen anyone mention anything about it in any of the threads. I have heard something mentioned about how Jacob and black shirt are speaking in the first scene of the finale. They are not talking like two people who are living in 1800's but rather using a more modern vernacular. Ever the conspiricy theorist, I think that there is something more at play here. We know time-travel is an intrical part of the show, so why would the writers/costume/set designers not take this stuff into consideration? |

| The island is always moving, it's moving through time as Hawking explained. So even though the Black Rock came from 1800 the island itself could have been created in the year 10,000,000 AD we just don't know enough yet. |
