Default Jacob off island was not Jacob!

Since they have not given him a name yet I will call Jacob's enemy dark Jacob, partly because of his evil demeanor and also because of his dark colored clothes.

Immediately after the end of the show I re-watched the beginning of the finale to see if that would give me any clue into the end. One line in the beginning discussion between the two men stuck out to me. After dark Jacob says he wants to kill Jacob, Jacob says that hell be waiting right here. I believe when he said that he’d wait he really meant it. All those flashbacks of him off the island were not of the real Jacob. They were all dark Jacob disguised as the real Jacob.

One could easily argue that he did not need to look like Jacob, none of the oceanic survivors knew whom either of them looked like. I have two answers to that. First maybe they did know what dark Jacob looked like, and the show has just gotten around to showing it yet. My second and more likely reason is simply because the writers like to **** with us viewers.

Another bit proof that the Jacob off the island was dark Jacob is what he is wearing in all the flashbacks. In the beginning and at the end the real Jacob is wearing all light colored clothes, while dark Jacob has dark colored clothes on. In all the off the island flashbacks Jacob is wearing dark clothes. I believe this is a little clue to the truth.

Everything that happened on and off the island so far was a plan created by dark Jacob so he could eventually reach his goal and kill Jacob. He orchestrated everything including telling the real Locke that he would need to die so that he could take his place. The twist with Locke not really coming back to life was completely unexpected. No one doubted it was possible that he could come back to life with Jack’s dad strolling around the island and talking to random people. But it all becomes clearer if we assume that dark Jacob was Christian Shepard. He always said he was working for Jacob, but he could have been lying. In reality he was working toward his own goals, which included getting the real Locke off the island with the notion he head to die, and also to get all the oceanic 6 back to the island.

Dark Jacob never gave a hint to who he was, that he was not Locke. Even when getting Ben to help him. It is clear that he pretended to be Ben’s daughter, and he himself told Ben that he had to help Locke. When he said help Locke of course he meant to help himself, but Ben did not know that. Ben just thought the island wanted him to help the reincarnation of John Locke.

Dark Jacob’s actions also imply that he is the one who wanted the oceanic 6 back to the island. He was the one who, as Jack’s dad told Locke he had to bring everyone back. He told Locke that he was Jack’s father so Locke could use this to bring Jack back. Then he could have visited Jack as his father a couple times to help convince him to return, as he did in the season 4 flashforwards.

Dark Jacob was manipulating tiny events as far back as the 60’s all so things would work out the way he wanted them to. I believe that he wanted the oceanic 6 back for something more. But he could have simply wanted them back so that they could be sent to the past and Sayid could attempt to kill Ben. If Sayid had never killed Ben he would never have become one of the others, let alone the leader. Then dark Jacob would never have been able to use him to kill the real Jacob.

Actually Ben met Alpert way before he was shot, and was already waiting to be taken away. I agree esau is the reason the o6 had to come back, but i think the reason he brought Sayid wasn't to kill him, but to make sure he was taken into the temple. Smokey/esau did something to Ben, shaped him for how he wanted to use him.

I don't think i agree with you that Jacob in the flashback's was actually esau. But i do agree with everything else about esau (who you call dark jacob)
