Default Tying theories together

I've been reading theories here for a while and I think you all have some great ideas about the answers to some of the major questions. Since it's been a slow time at work the last few days, I've been working on my own theory and I've made some interesting connections.

I will start off my Jacob theory which is pretty much in line with most of them. Jacob is of course the Jacob we know from the Bible. The mystery man who wants to kill Jacob is his twin brother Esau, who wants to kill Jacob of course because Jacob tricked him into selling his birthright as the first born. I think Jacob offering Esau some fish in the season finale was kind of a play on this or a passive aggressive jab by Jacob...not really pertinent, I just thought that was a funny little clue. I was having trouble, like most, with the theory that Jacob and the other man were God and the Devil...why would the other man need to find a loophole to kill Jacob? If he just killed Jacob himself, obviously he would be punished by someone and since he was killing GOD, who would punish him? Didn't make sense to me. I think it's more likely that Jacob and Esau are angels or archangels and just inhabit the island. Esau can't himself kill Jacob because, as we know, thou shalt not kill is a commandment from God. Esau isn't going to kill, as much as he wants to. They have the ability to take the form of dead people and interact with humans on that level. Jacobs takes the form of Christian Shepard and helps Jack find the water and takes the form of Yemi and helps Eko/John find the Pearl Station. Esau takes the form of Walt and egts Shannon killed and takes the form of Yemi and gets Eko killed. One interesting thing I discovered in my research was that Esau's guardian angel in the Bible is Samael, the angel of death. Could this be what the Smoke Monster is? The angel of death working for Esau and judging/killing the people Jacob brought to the island just to throw off Jacob's plan?

Now for my theory on the island itself. I believe the island is many things, but originally the island was the birth of man, the garden of eden. Most people assumed the two bodies Jack found in the cave were some of our characters (Jack/Kate, Sawyer/Kate, etc.) that got caught in a weird time loop, but what if they literally are Adam and Eve? I think the island originated as an oasis in Africa, which is why eden is believed to be in one of those places and that's why when you leave the island you're sent there. The island has moved many times and has dropped people off in different parts of the world as it's moved. The cultures that have developed on the island spread to places like Egypt (the statue) and Britain (the rocks that look like Stonehenge) and others. It's gone by many different names, Eden, Atlantis, and also the Fountain of Youth. Then I asked, so if it's Atlantis or the fountain of youth, why can't the island be found and what's with the weird electromagnetic properties and the time travel? I think it's possible the island is also some kind of level of heaven, not purgatory but actually part of heaven just not the part with all of the dead people. A place on earth where mortals can live and work, but they don't have to be dead or be judged to get in. The electromagnetic properties are what allow it to stay hidden although I don't quite understand the physics behind it.

And that's where the Richard Alpert and the Others come in. At one time the island was located in the Carribean, in an area known as the Burmuda Triangle. It lived there for many years. In my research I read a story of an Arawak (Caribbean tribes) chief who set sail with other people to find the Fountain of Youth...but he was never heard from again. Could it be that this chief is Richard Alpert and the ship he set sail on was The Black Rock? And the reason he never ages is because he drinks the waters of the island, a.k.a. the fountain of youth? It should also be noted that the actor that plays Richard Alpert is of Cuban decent, did they cast him for that role because they loved his acting or because he fit the profile of what they wanted Richard Alpert to look like? I don't know. It's an odd coincidence though.

So what is the whole point of the whole show? Why are our characters on the island? It's all just part of the game between Jacob and Esau. Has Esau won? I don't know. Jacob brought all of these people to the island for a reason, why would he bring them there if he knew it would lead to his death? This is the burning question in my mind right now!

Well I hope you enjoy this theory!
