I really don't want Jack to make it to the end, can't stand him!
On the old hallucinogenics front, interesting to note that most heavy LSD users report seeing the same thing on the third day, despite having wildly differing experiences with the drug until that point. It's the same thing Jim Morrisson saw in his sweatlodge

Ugh I'm not a Jack fan either. He's a whiner.

Dr. Richard Alpert (the real one) aka Ram Dass was one of the guys that worked with Timothy Leary and Aldous Huxley in the discovery of LSD and the experiments that followed. They actually seem like a DHARMA-esque group. DUN DUN DUN

Im actually not a big Jack fan, but i really feel that he is the most important character in the show. He is the essential flawed hero.

I think he will make it to the end, and will play a key role in the way the series ends. Most likely he will have to make a choice between science and faith. Choose something you can't understand and save everyone, or refute it because it is illogical and doom everyone.

i wonder if this has anything to do with the time at the hatch when Locke drugged Boone and he saw the smoke monster kill Shannon.

Good call, cbooth. I actually thought of that when I was writing this thread...Locke drugged Boone to "open his eyes," to allow him to see what his heart truly desired, which was for Shannon to die.

Also, Oldham, the weirdo Dharma truth-torture guy, appeared to be living in a sort of sweat lodge-esque tent structure. He was clearly experimenting with psychotropic drugs, like the one he gave Sayid, and maybe others. He will be the one that opens the eyes of Dharma, truly allows them to see the energy of the Island. I expect a lot more from his character.

so here is a post I made a few months ago

It was titled "The real richard alpert" but no one replied to it lolz

http://forums.buddytv.com/lost-theor...rd-alpert.html

also a note on Jack making it to the end

in the very first scene of the pilot when jack wakes up if you look really really close you can see Ben's Baton on the ground next to him lying in the bamboo its hard to see but its there.

A very popular theory is the show will end with Jack waking up in the bamboo forest btw

the writers have said "jack" is the hero so im sure we will see him at the end of the series.

Touzoku, the "real Richard Alpert" thing is very old news. It hasn't been discussed recently because it's been known since we first heard the name Richard Alpert on Lost haha. But yes, the Easter Egg of having a Separate Reality book does recall the significance of his name.

On the 'Real Richard Alpert' front, i'm sure this was also discussed way back in Season 2 when we first heard 'Pala Ferry' and made the Huxley connection.
I think the last ever shot should be an eye- possibly Jack's if we're adamant we can't get rid of him- closing

I have made no secret of my complete and utter distaste for Jack. It was nice to see him grow a pair, and actually learn from his past mistakes. He and Kate have now flip flopped on my most annoying Lost character list. I'm going to go back and watch that scene where Ben has lunch with Kate on the beach and see if there is any significance to what is happening "now".
