Question 07/23 - Casting Rumors!

Here's some awesome casting news from one of DarkUFO's contacts at ABC. His source has proved accurate in the past and he assures Dark that the casting is legit.

Quote:
1) Negotiations with Harold Perrineau and Malcolm David Kelley are being made with Malcolm contract practically agreed and feelings are that agreement with Harold's people is very close.

2) Only one new actor will enter in the fixed cast, and the actor currently being sought for this role is Peter Stormare.

3) The producers have invited the actor Forest Whitaker to participate in two episodes at the start of the season.
Peter Stormare is known for his roles in Fargo (1996) and Constantine (2005). He also played as John Abruzzi in the hit TV series, Prison Break.

Forest Whitaker won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the 2006 film, The Last King of Scotland.

And considering Stormare seems to keep his accent no matter the role...I'm guessing he's a friend of Patchy's

Exclamation 07/25 - Harold Perrineau returns!!

Mike is back!! It was announced at the ABC Press Tour that Harold Perrineau is returning to Lost next season.

Quote:
9:31 am: An ABC rep interrupts the session when she walks over to McPherson on stage and whispers something in his ear. Two seconds later, he announces that someone on his team got in touch with Damon Lindelof and he gave his blessing to share the big news with us: Harold Perrineau is returning to Lost!
Quote:
9:19 am: McPherson confirms that there will be several major Lost announcements at Comic-Con tomorrow that "everybody will be excited about." He refuses to say what they are. (I know!)

It's a really bad move, and I hope that it's saved only for special events like season finales (although those usually tend to be Jack-centric...)
Not, and I repeat, not, if the flash fowards are quantum flux- related. If the actions of the characters on the island dictate the future then, if or as their actions change, the outcome of the future will change. The flash forwards we see are a *possible* future for the losties.....at least that's my theory.

Exclamation 07/27 - Comic Con Spoilers!!

Here's a summary of the spoilers from the LOST Panel at the 2007 Comic Con:
  • The producers confirmed Harold Perrineau's return. They didn't say how or when he'd be coming back, except that it wouldn't just be in a flashback: Michael is back for good as a series regular. He'll return early in the season.
  • Michael's comeback after a year off was planned all along and was extremely hard to keep quiet for all three of them.
  • Michael will probably have a redemptive story.
  • Nestor Carbonell (Richard Alpert) has slim chances of being seen much at all next season.
  • Jack and Claire will find out they are siblings next season.
  • There will be flashbacks and flash-forwards next season, but we won't know when these take place.
  • Getting off the island is not the end. The flash-forward scene with Jack and Kate is not the end.
  • There's another entire chapter of the show to be told off the island.
  • What's coming to the island is worse than the Others.
  • Libby's absence was not intentional.
  • They intend to have a flashback and tell Libby's story. They also hinted that she may have ties to the Dharma Initiative.
  • They intend on telling the Rousseau's story in a flashback, and we'll see it either this season or next season.
  • Ben was accidentally caught in season 2. He was en route to something when he was caught. They did not say where, for what and why, but we will find out later next season.
  • The monster's origin, everything, will be answered definitively at some point.
  • Cerberus is a name for the monster, but it has several names it goes by. We will find out who made it and its intentions, but the answer we get might not be what we would think of as an answer.
  • There is still no title for the season premiere.
  • It was not Locke that Hurley saw fall off the office building in season 1.
They won't close the door on the possibility of having another Lost Experience.
  • We will get around to Neil "Frogurt".
They also showed a video clip from Norvick, Norway which turns out to be a new orientation film for Station 6 (The Orchid). Marvin Candle was shown but called himself Edward Hourwax?/Edgar Halifax? He says that it is not a botanical garden as they were told to tell their families when they left them to come work for Dharma. Instead, it is another location on the island where unusual properties were being used to form a "casimir effect." He is holding a rabbit with the number 15 printed on it. Then the "Jacob loves you" line is seen for a split second. Things begin to fall, the building shakes and lights break, and the camera focuses on the rabbit. One of the station's alarms blares, and Marvin Candle panics. Then, we see an upside down clip of someone riding a bicycle for a split second. Then the camera pans to another area of the room and we see another bunny on a high shelf with the number 15.

Any ideas on what the Kashmire effect could mean. The Wikipedia article was totally inaccessible--as in: What?

Casimir effect [Wikipedia]:

Quote:
In physics, the Casimir effect or Casimir-Polder force is a physical force exerted between separate objects, which is due to neither charge, gravity, nor the exchange of particles, but instead is due to resonance of all-pervasive energy fields in the intervening space between the objects. This is sometimes described in terms of virtual particles interacting with the objects, due to the mathematical form of one possible way of calculating the strength of the effect. Since the strength of the force falls off rapidly with distance it is only measurable when the distance between the objects is extremely small. On a submicron scale, this force becomes so strong that it becomes the dominant force between uncharged conductors. Indeed at separations of 10 nm - about a hundred times the typical size of an atom - the Casimir effect produces the equivalent of 1 atmosphere of pressure (101.3 kPa).

Dutch physicists Hendrik B. G. Casimir and Dirk Polder first proposed the existence of the force, and formulated an experiment to detect it in 1948 while participating in research at Philips Research Labs. The classic form of his experiment used a pair of uncharged parallel metal plates in a vacuum, and successfully demonstrated the force to within 15% of the value he had predicted according to his theory.
