Default The spin control machine in motion

Quote:
I'm told by multiple sources inside ABC that the initial plan was to do two more seasons of Lost, with 24 episodes each; however, because of international deals already in place, Lost's producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse agreed to divvy up those remaining 48 episodes over three seasons. (A TV season must be a minimum of 16 episodes.)
Source : Kristen at E! Online.

So.. the next Big Lie is that conflicts with INTERNATIONAL deals prevented ABC from renewing Lost for only 2 more 24 episode seasons. Excuse me...

HAHAAHHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAH HAAHAHA!!!
HAHAAHHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!!! !
HAHAAHHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA HAHA!!!

Seriously.. that was a whopper. I've seen some Big Lies before but that one absolutely takes the cake. ABC.. in their esteemed wisdom.. wants you to believe that they made international contracts mandating a season 6. For a show that isn't even in its 4th season! That they didn't even know would even make it to 6 seasons! Seriously.. the manure they're shovelling out of that studio just gets smellier and smellier.

Ya... the writers guild contracts expire Oct. 31st.

So either they get the 16 for next season done before then or if there is a prolonged strike.. Lost most likely won't make its air dates.

Really? I didn't know that. Has there ever been a strike? I assume sides aren't close as they never are until the final hour...

1988 was the last major writers strike.. the last threat of one was in 2001. Basically they're squabbling over DVD and other new technology royalty issues.

Basically the studios push a lot of reality stuff since you don't really need writers for that.. or they ramp up productions in advance of the deadline to push series' out the door. Example: Las Vegas went in to production on their new season 3 months early in order to have most of the season done before the deadline. So they stockpile and put on reality shows. The little guys who work on the shows usually get caught in the middle because even if there isn't a strike its as good as one because everything they'd normally be working on got finished in advance leaving them out of work until the next season.

How Lost will fit into all that? Don't know.. but Matthew Fox is locked into doing Speed Racer this summer.
