Wow... that's quite a novel
I picked out a few points:

I think that (b) is the more likely (and easier) way to go...
I agree. I think people have just taken to calling the mountains the village is in a crater, but that's not really what it looks like to me. Just a valley surrounded by shallow mountains. I think Danielle's crater is something else.

It's possible. Bear in mind though, that it took Ana Lucia & company a few days to walk the distance between the two camps. Also, it may have taken Ethan a day to get to the Fuselage crash site. It may not have been noticed that he hadn't been there earlier, and he only would have to have arrived before Jack did the count of survivors that he gave to the pilot. He might have gone unnoticed beforehand. Also, they may have an underground transportation system (remember when Rose said the sound the monster made sounded familiar and that she lived in the Bronx... subway cars perhaps?). Goodwin wouldn't have used it since it was only an hour to where he was going.

Well if the map shows all the stations (an unverifiable assumption at this point), the Hydra would have to be the rightmost, or top-rightmost station. My guess would be the rightmost one, because the notes on the blastdoor map in this area talk about the zoology experiments. The top-rightmost station is the closest to (or may even be in the same location as) the probable location of Otherville. My guess is that it is probably a utopian society station (mentioned as a project in the Swan orientation video) as evidenced by the Others' nice little suburban community.

If Mr. Eko and Locke have any sense of direction, it is the ? They would have to have been wildly off to arrive at one of the other stations instead.

Can't be. It is several days walk between the Tail Section and the Fuselage crash sites as based on travel time for Ana Lucia & company. Given that Otherville is an hour's run from the tail section it has to be closer to the tail section unless something completely wiggy is going on.

definitely possible, but the way Ben gave orders it didnt seem as if he thought Ethan would arrive to the fusilage site late, otherwise I think that Ben would have given him instructions on how to handle himself. the way he gave instructions it seemed to indicate (to me at least) that Ethan was going to make the fusilage site easily, and that Goodwin would have to rush to get to the other site in an hour (and remember that it's later explained that Ana Lucia noticed that Goodwin came out of the jungle and wasnt wet when he showed up)

interesting that the village might be a station itself... the way the stations are outfitted, though, that doesnt seem to fall in line with what I have seen, but it is definitely possible. but I still think that the others' village is closer to the fusilage site than the taillie site...

AL and her group took just two days to reach the caves, didnt they? and that was because they walked around the island instead of going directly through the middle of the island (through the jungle) because they were afraid of the others. and they were traveling as a group, with an injured Sawyer. again, it seemed to me that the way Ben talked to Ethan and Goodwin it seemed like he wasnt concerned at all about Ethan making the fusilage site but he made it a point to mention to Goodwin that he needed to rush to get there in an hour. if Goodwin averages a 6 min mile the tail site could be 10 mi away from the others' village, which falls in line with some approximations for the size of the island.

if they are indeed on the east/southeast (right hand side of the blast door map) side of the island, that would explain their proximity to the hydra station, their proximity to the fusilage site, still within an hour's run to the taillie site, and their easy access to the center of the island and all of the jungle areas there.

something else to consider is that the overview of the others' village showed water, which looked a bit like a cove or bay... that might be a landmark that we can try to find on Danielle's map in comparison to where the mtns are.

also, I dont remember from the show, in that overview of the others' village, did they show which crash site was which? i.e. we see the plane breaking up, but do we know for sure which one was which when they pulled away? if not, they could be in either the east or the west mtn range...

I am also unsure about where the others' dock is located. the raft sailed around the west (left hand side of the blast door map) side of the island during the day and didnt see anything, and Sayid/Sun/Jin sailed Desmond's sailboat around that same side and didnt see anything (but they did see the 4 toed statue foot that wasnt seen earlier) and then after sailing past the edge of a mtn range found the dock... but the taillies never saw that dock, and they went around the island the other direction... that seems to indicate that the dock is almost on the very north side of the island, the taillies crashed on the NE side of the island, and the others' village is in the mtn range on the east or SE side of the island...

but, if the tallies were walking around the east side, why didnt they see the hydra station? and sayid scouted the island up the east side from the south and didnt notice the hydra station, either...

anyone interested in starting a new thread to try to hammer out sites on a map?

we have kind of taken this thread off it's original subject...

You know what I just remembered? Ana Lucia said Goodwin came running out of the jungle ten minutes after the plane crashed. Ben said it would take just under an hour... running. What gives??? Ana also said earlier that the flight was only 2 hours though, when the pilot had said it was much longer (6 hours or so I think?). Conclusion: Ana Lucia probably needed a better watch.

concering travel times of groups and location of the others camp

It is possible the others were more centeraly located between the crash sites, Remember Ana and all were traveling along the shore to avoid the Jungle as much as they could because of their fear of the others. As a result walking through sand and around the edge of a relative circle vs a straight line. Also they were traversing unknown areas to them with a sick and injured sawyer vs healthy others making straight lines in areas they know very well.

Im not saying this for sure but being familiar with an area vs navagating blind maks a big diffrence in that type of travel

alot of what he says may sound wrong, but alot is right just because it is the only explination and should already be obvious, for instance, the islands incredible healing powers. The EMF blocking the island from detection. The Others being Dharma scientists. And the fact that they were detected when it overflowed.

I feel almost like i should believe it cuz im gunna go crazy watching these slow paced episodes! haha

I agree with u. Some of it was good and the rest was just made up. Besides would the producers really give answers to most of those questions?

A few things to interject...

Enlarge this picture and look closely.
The ? is not the Others village. You can see the fuselage and tail section of the plane in this picture and where the Others live is not in the center of them (as they would have to be according to the blast map to be the "?". The village is off to the side as Bunny is stating. And that leads to...

The ? is the Pearl. Period. It's been confirmed by TPTB numerous times, most recently here. Also it's on the season 2 commentary of "The 23rd Psalm on the Lost dvd.

Ok, that's all I have.
