| The pearl is not the question mark and I can prove it. look at the blast door map. On CV4 it says that it is the pearl. |

| It says "The Pearl?", with a question mark at the end, indicating that the mapmaker either thought that the Pearl might be in that location, or else it was just a note indicating that he had heard the name "The Pearl" and wasn't sure what it meant. The question mark is the Pearl. The video in the station states that pretty definitively. |

In the same shot you mention, look at the locations of the two pillars of smoke (presumably the two pieces of the plane) in relation to the Other's village. The Tailies crashed on the North side of the island and the Fuselage landed on the South end (assuming for the moment that the blast door map is correctly oriented to North/South). The blast crater is roughly east of the pillar of smoke corresponding to the tail section (and also alot closer to it than to the other smoke pillar). This means the crater most likely corresponds to the area in the northeast of the blast door map (around station C3), which states "Mountainous terrain most likely used by DIHG for meteorological research" as well as "Why so many Dharmatel relays in such an untenable location?": http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...t/243bfbf3.jpg It sounds like Radzinsky thought the mountainous crater might be the weather station, but it was actually the Others' village (or perhaps both). The Hydra on the other hand is probably station C4 (if the notes on the map are accurate), which is halfway in between the Others' village and the Swan. | |

| Well I think the Pearl is the center "?" because: 1. There was a ? (salted earth) above the pearl which Eko saw. 2. The Pearl had TV monitors that appeared to connect to each station on the island (only one you could get a picture on was the Swan). This would make the Pearl a Central Location, if not geographicly, then certainly central for observation. 3. The dreams Eko had which led them to the Pearl referred to the place as the question mark. 4. The dashed lines on the map represent areas Kelvin was unsure about, only speculated. Note that the other stations he was unsure about ALSO have a question mark. (there is more than one question mark on the map) So to me the Relevence of the Question mark is to be taken as "unknown area" and once investigated, reveals the Pearl, the central station for observation. man i feel like a real scientist. lol
