Default Third Policeman

has anyone here read The Third Policeman by Flann O'Brien?. It was the book that Desmond took with him when he left the hatch. One of the writers said that reading it would give you alot more material to theorize with. I know the producers have denied the "they're all dead theory" but that is what the book is about. For those who haven't read it, the main character is dead and in hell for almost the entire book, and doesn't realize it untill the end. Any thoughts as too why they included this book if the "they're all dead theory" is false?

It's a little too "Sixth Sense" for me. I can't believe they're all dead and that they're all in Hurley's head. For starters, if they're all dead, how come people still die?

Do you always answer your own questions?

I think the producers are smart enough to know there are legions of fans who are pouring over every little detail. I'd wager they throw false leads in there and I'd also bet that sometimes something slips through that means absolutely nothing at all..... but when we pick up on it, the powers behind the show are savvy enough to play up on it a little.

That's my thinking anyway.

That's the key... material to theorize with... something to keep our fertile little minds busy... not necessarily anything pertinent to the show. Sneaky, evil buggers!

I haven't read that book, but, aside from the main character being dead and in hell, is there anything else that might be pertinent to the show? I mean, if the producers say it's a clue, I'm tempted to believe it is. So maybe there's something else in there that might be of relevence. Just a thought. But for those of you who have read it, any ideas?

Did the producers actually say it was a clue?

I was going to order this book yesterday, but then I saw that "Bad Twin" comes out in two weeks... so I ordered that instead.

They said that if you read it, it will give you a big clue as to what LOST is about and more ideas to theorize with.
