Default Baloon sponsored by Mr.Cluck & Nozz-La Cola

Not having read Stephen Kings Dark Tower series I would never have spotted this, but Dardin has read it, and he did spot it...

The Minnesota Metallurgy and Mr.Clucks signs are clear enough, but that last one was a bit hard to make out, but thanks to Dardin I can reveal that it says Nozz-a-la Cola, which is a brand famous in The Dark Tower books apparently...

Here's the good bit, that very same brand of Cola was in an episode of Stephen Kings Kingdom Hospital, which is also made by abc, if we could get a screencap from that episode we could check out the logo and see if it matches up to the one on the capsule, I bet it does...

I don't think it's anything more than a nod to a respected author and another abc show, same kinda thing as "You All Everybody" playing on the stereo at Sydney Bristow's birthday party in Alias, but a good catch nonetheless...

Default Baloon Sponsored By Mr. Cluck & Nozz-a-la Cola

I'm not sure if anyone else out there is a Stephen King fan, but we know that the fake Henry Gayle is!

If you look at the new picture that is posted of the baloon capsule it shows the opposite side of where the Widmore Labs logo is. Here you see that the capsuls is from Minnesota Metallurgy, and that is was proudly sponsored by Mr. Clucks Chicken Shack, and non other than Nozz-a-la Cola.

Stephen King has a practice of creating his own brand names for the King Universe and Nozz-a-la is one of those brands. I beleive it was introduced in the Dark Tower 4 and can also be found many other places since most King works have some kind of connection to one another, just like a lot of things in LOST. You can also see Nozz-a-la Cola in the TV mini series Kindom Hospital.

I just thought it was really odd that the Fake Henry asked Locke for any Stephen King books, and then it appears that one of Kings fake brand names appears on the back of the baloon. You never see something like this out side of something that King is personally involved in.

I have heard that the writers have an affinity for King, but does anyone think that this could mean more? I mean why would they put somehting in the show that only a big Stephen King fan would know?

"Alias" did the same thing with the Drive Shaft song in one of their episodes, the difference being that both are Abrams shows, of course. I think it's just a wink and a nod to those of you who would get the connection. I'm not a big King fan myself, so it didn't click with me.

I'm sure that the writers are amused when other King fans see that stuff. I'm even more sure they are more amused when they know that Stephen King knows they did it as an nod to him.

I doubt that means we will see King write any episodes or that he is part of the team. (Although that would be awesome)

Do we know the true author of Bad Twin yet or are they still keeping it a big secret?
Because when I read about the Cola company being a Stephen King product, it kind of put the idea in my head that he wrote the book.
Any thoughts?

I did hear a rumour that Bad Twin was actually written by Stephen King under the penname Gary Troup, not sure if there's any truth to it though, apparently the copy Hurley found on the island is missing the last couple of pages, not sure if they'll play on this in the show at all...

Should'nt the thread title be...

Nit picking I know, I'm sorry...

Default Not Nozz-a-la Cola

That would be fine except the Nozz-a-la Cola logo looks nothing like that:

http://nozzala.com/

Why would they change the logo? I don't think that's what it says, you can abrely read it.

That site was set up to make money of the Nozz-a-la Cola name, it has nothing to do with Stephen King. Nozz-a-la Cola does'nt exist in the real world, I think all that site does is sell T-Shirts...

We need a cap from Kingdom Hospital, I have no luck finding one so far...

The producers have admitted "Bad Twin" was written by a famous but as yet unnamed mystery writer. Speculation is that it's about Sawyer's brother.

And perhaps in recognition of one of the more popular theories re: the show, Gary Troup is an anagram for purgatory. (cue spooky Lost theme music)
