I have found out from an unamed reliable source, that the actual outcome of all this is still in debate with the producers and writers but they are discussing the following 1. Walt is reading all of this out of a book, as he wants to be close to his father he is reading a story but using ppl on the plane himself and his dad as the characters instead of the books characters. 2. The lostaways are not even alive, that they are all dead and stuck between reality and death, hence the others not growing etc as they are the same.

If Walt's reading this out of a book, what's the reason for the flashbacks? And why, now in season 2, are Walt and Michael not even in the show if it's all about Walt's story? The producers have stated before that the characters are not dead. I'm sorry, I don't buy either one of those for a second.

Ditto, these both are just not plausable. The producers have not officially debunked the "it's a dream/story" rumors but the flashbacks and character development would not be needed if it was a "book". And the producers have outright said it's not that they're dead or in physical purgatory (which is what the second one really describes in your post). And the producers have stated that the story continues after they get off the island. I would, however, agree with the source that the producers/writers are probably still deciding on how the show will end. Lindelof stated that the group came up with a "rough" outline for the first 4 to 5 seasons, but they probably don't know exactly where it's going on an episode by episode basis. Tell your source they get an 'A' for effort though -Desmond

Yes, thanks for bringing these up because they are ideas worth discussing, but both have pretty much been completely ruled out by the producers. It's pretty unlikely they even have the entire thing figured out yet.

I saw a couple of the writers some time back on an afternoon tv show..can't recall which one...anyway, they said that the whole thing is 'easily explainable' in real terms. Not a dream, not dead. I'm still trying to figure it out and every time I come up with an idea, I watch the following week and see that I'm totally wrong.

Huh, I didn't catch that one. Touche River...Touche As far as the easily explainable, the three most popular ideas that I currently like and that can be considered to Lindelof as "easily" explainable: 1) The Island is not really an unknown Island but a Truman Show style privately owned property where the DHARMA initiative runs experiments without government interference. This could cover many of the concepts of underground tunnels, bunkers, radio transmission, etc. 2) Polarity. The island is effected by weird polarity and electromagnetic forces that allow for things like "regeneration" (believe it was Mr. Candle on here that stated that theory) and the fact that polar bears can live in a jungle that averages 95 degrees. 3) River's Door To December theory...it's a good one, look it up. There's threads for these ideas somewhere in the speculation forums... -Desmond | |
