Unhappy Paulo and Nikki: Unfinished Story or Just Plain Dead?

Maybe it's just me, but I really did not expect the Lost producers to just move on from the whole buried alive thing so briskly. I really thought Nikki and Paulo would pop up sometime soon after that episode, but I felt like I was left hanging. I mean... it's possible they didn't die and scratched their way out of the graves... right? We pretty much assume they're dead because it's been some time after and haven't gone back, but do you think there's a possibility they'll come back? Maybe for something important?

Well, I agree that it was somewhat of an abrupt ending to our little friends Nikki and Paulo, but I am sure that they are gone for good. Damon and Carlton have said that they realized it was a bad idea to bring them on the show in the first place. Fans hated them for the most part, wondering were in the world they came from and why they had never been a part of the show until that point. So, in order to get ride of them quickly, they killed them off in a horrific way. For the most part, I thought it was a pointless episode and feel that it has been the worst of the lot.

Yes, I read that as well, but ehhhh... I still just feel so unsatisfied! I guess it's just a faint hope that the episode wasn't pointless.

Honestly, I wasn't so mad that they were suddenly thrust into the group of main characters. We saw flashbacks all the way back to the first episode of the first season showing us that they were there the whole time. I was ready to go along for the ride with them, but I guess that's extremely doubtful now.

I think they did a good job of recreating flashback to the beginning too. The tie in would have worked fine by me--after all they did it with Ana Lucia and crew, so why not. I just felt like Nikki was a bit wooden or something when they introduced her. I loved it when Sawyer was trying to get his stuff back and he said to Nikki, "A, it was mine when I took it. B, who the hell are you?! And C, because I'm fair...I'm going to let you play me for it." It's what the audience was thinking. But I do think TPTB could have let them die in a way that was more significant to the plot. The way they did it showed weakness.

To be completely honest I'm glad they are gone...their story line was boring and pointless.

I loved the ending of the episode.

Although it would've been cooler if she/they would've somehow gotten out of the grave.
Imagine the losties reaction! That would've been awesome!

I really liked the characters and thought the episode was cool, but I guess I only liked it because I was expecting a hand to pop out of the sand.

I liked the characters, but I don't think they will be back. Why would they? They were no importance to the bigger picture

I would love to think that too. But I'm now sure that Charlie will stay on other side forever. :/
