What is the core secret of the island?

At the end of the day, all the mysteries of Lost will boil down to the secret of the island itself -- What is it? Where is it? Why is it? How is it? (Maybe even WHO is it?!) So, based on these options culled from my favorite and not-so-favorite theories to date, what do you think it will all boil down to? If you choose "None of the Above," tell us what your own idea of what it will all come down to!

EDIT: Of course, several or even all of these options may come into play before the show is done... but only one can be the driving force behind it all. Maybe time and space converge in Purgatory... but that means the Purgatory option is the driver. Maybe the Atlantean gods are really aliens, a la Stargate... making the Atlantis theory the driver. Or maybe there's some other twisted combination.

If you have an answer that is more complicated than the options in the poll, explain away!

I see the parallels with so many different religions as a core element of the show's mythology, so I think it is a cool idea that the Others are trying to unlock the secrets of THE FIRST religion... to awaken the old gods of Atlantis (or Lemuria or whatever). ANd it is in tapping into various aspects of the ancient technology and the island's mystical energies that DHARMA and now the Others have set off a chain of bizarre phenomena.

I'm just hving a guess, it might be crap and not make much sense but maybe they did all die and the flash forwards are 'what could have been.'

I think that humanity is going extinct (Valenzetti equation). The Island is the only "safe haven" from the apocalypse. But, Humanity isn't supposed to survive, so the universe course-corrects itself so people living on the island cant reproduce, and would eventually die out.
I think the show will end with the solution to the pregnancy situation, and a remaining few will live on the island.

(Jack and Sawyer will take care of the re-populating of the world with a little help from Kate lol)
