Maybe is not one of the best trilogies, but have to admit that I like it.
I thought the first was totally enjoyable. I loved it a lot. But then, they released the other two and I thought they weren't anywhere as great as the first. It started to become a visual-effects-palooza. They chose that over what could have been a great story.

Yeah, that's why I only talked about the first one, I know I'm supossed to vote for the whole trilogy, But I think the first one makes it for the other two... Like you said, It coluld have been a great story, I think the concept was original, and that was what I loved the most when the first one was released, so basically my vote was for the first of the The Matrix trilogy

The Godfather would be the obvious choice except for the lamentable failure of #3. Sofia Coppola cast as Mary Corleone? C'mon... not only was she a terrible actress, it was nepotism at it's worst.

But Godfather 1 and 2 stand on their own as unparalleled movies. And they ARE the only original and sequel to both win Oscars for Best Movie.

Exactly. I also thought that the concept was original. But they wasted it. Think how great it could have been if they focused more on the story.

I agree with the failure of Godfather III and the nepotism stuff. I got The Godfather trilogy on DVD and the third was so terrible that I put it on fast forward.

I am such a LOTR dork! I was big time into the books as a kid and when the movies came out is was like orgasmic, lol.

Strangely, I did not watch the original Star Wars trilogy until last year...
