The others are not exactly good guys. They think that what they are doing is for the good of mankind (hence the better tomorrow motto) thus, they think they are good. However, the means on which they attain it is bad. This means that their actions that are good in itself becomes ethically bad when the means lack in goodness.

Nobody's exactly the good guys and the losties flashbacks prove that.

However, why do they always refer to some losties (the ones they put on their lists) as the 'good ones' and why do they call themselves the 'good guys" ? Good ones and good guys could mean two different things.
