Default NHL Playoff Thread

Ok, Avrey97 and I kept getting 'yelled' at (deservedly so) for discussing the NHL Playoffs in other threads, so I decided to open an area where we could root on our teams as they vie for the greatest trophy in team sports...The STANLEY CUP!!!

Buffalo Sabres 7
Ottawa Senators 6 FOT

Let's hope there's some defense on Monday.

Thanks so much for starting this thread! V. smart!
Im going to agree about the defence on last nights game, it was kinda poor for both teams. But a lot of people enjoy high scoring games, so in a way I guess it was pretty good. Looking forward to the Oilers game tonight.

I was reading a preview for the Sabres/Senators matchup and they were saying that Ottawa gives up a lot of odd man rushes. Buffalo likes to capitalize on those situations. Certainly went that way last night.

Oilers/Sharks should be good. I'm living in Massachusetts right now and all the Bruins fans are pissed about Thornton and Samsonov being traded. The only way the Bruins fans are going to see Bruins play in the playoffs is to watch this series!

Rooting for Edmonton in this one...former Sabre Michael Peca plays for the Oilers.

That trade was HUGE!!! I've never figured out why it happened in the first place. Who the hell gives away Joe Thornton?!?
Peca is an amazing player, works very well in Edmonton. Pronger has been completely revitalized there too. I definitly want to see Edmonton go far this year. They deserve it!

You would have thought the world had come to an end by the way people around here were so upset. Him winning the scoring race just made it so much better for me!

Peca was one of my favorite players when he was with Buffalo, so I like seeing him do well. Just as long as it's not against the Sabres.

Well you don't have to worry about that too much. Its not like they play against each other that often.
I don't really have a favourite player. I like waaaay too many. But if I had to choose I would have to go with Vincent Lecavelier. He's just a good player all around. he was also the only one who looked like he had a pulse on the Canadian Olympic team. Sid Crosby and Ovechkin really impressed me this year, Oh! And I LOVE Dion Phaneuf, and Michael Ryder. They're good as well. Guess you can say Im into all the up and coming players. I find them much more exciting.

I'm the same way as far as having a bunch of favorite players. Steve yzerman and Joe Sakic are great and I like the way they lead quietly by example. I'm a finesse kind of guy, I guess. Pavel Datsyuk is awesome with the puck. Ovechkin impressed me during the Olympics as well as during the regular season.

My all-time favorite players are Wayne Gretzky and Gilbert Perreault.

I also love what the new rules did for the season. Opening things up and letting everyone skate is what hockey is all about. I was so happy when they eliminated the two-line pass. Made for some exciting home run passes.
