| I hate church so much. Its so pointless. I ask my parents: Why do we goto church? I hate when my parents say: TO pray to god. well i say: isnt God everywhere? Then they just dodge. ALL of my friends dont go church and im so jealous. I hate it when they get to enjoy a sunday morning of happiness and i have to endure a 1 hr torture of hell at church. Who else hates church?

| if you think it's hell when you're in church, just imagine what you have to look forward to after your little ignorant rant.

| Member | I used to go to church when i whas young. Whas something like a thing of the school where i went to ( but you only needed to go with the school on special days like a week before easter, ...) Now im at High school. It's an other school but of the same order. Now i dont need to go and im quite happy about it. But i go when i need to like a for wedding, funeral, baptism,... more for the family and for me sometimes. Church is a thing for people who like it and if you dont like god wont hate you for that. But if he does ... Then im screwed. Nah, faith is something for evryone doing it on his on way. |

| Snowman, I am sorry that you hate church. I personally find going to church very uplifting and educational. I enjoy going. You do not have to attend church to pray. Prayer is a daily activity for many people, including myself. It does sadden me to hear you call sitting in church for an hour "torture of hell." I think that you must be attending the wrong church.

| I suppose it all depends on where you go to church. I've been to some boring churchs, where priests droned on and on in monotonous voices. I've been to scray churchs, where some people claimed they were possessed by the Lord and started speakig in tongues. I've also been to interesting churchs, where bands are used in the place of a choir and where the priests or ministers had a sense of humor and used it well, and where they told stories about their own lives and relevant to the world around them. Also, some churches start later than others. If you're dissatisfied with church then you don't have to go, but that doesn't mean you should knock all churches, but some of them are really good places. |

| I go to church and I must say that the church you attend makes a lot of difference. I recently switched from a Catholic church where the priest speaks in a monotnous voice in his very hard to understand accent. I found myself close to catatonic or comatose after each service. I went out of a sense of duty. My 15 yr old daughter dragged me to a Baptist church with a Holy Rockin choir complete with electric guitars and drums. Now, I can't wait to go. I personally think that God does not require you to gather in a building to worship Him. I think that your relationship with God is just between you and Him. No one else. I believe we are our own temple. Just have faith and try to find somewhere you are comfortable. You'll know when you find it that it is what is right for you. |

| theres nothing wrong about hating the church or religion. but its wrong to hate things without reason. i hate a lot of things - and spending one hour in a building you donīt like is no reason for real hate. do you believe in god, are you religous? if yes - doesnīt "he" tell you not to hate? if no - (good for you) why not - and why do you go. saying you hate church because you just donīt like to go sounds like a little kid. if you have a problem with church etc please tell me why -and refuse to go. but argue with some good arguments. as i said -i have no problem if youre against god - i suppose in america they would call me the antichrist... but give some reasons why you hate. blaming it on ridiculous reasons is not fair. (since church isnīt fair - we should be *EVILGRIN*) |

Personally, I was brought up in an Agnostic family, but I do believe in God as being divine, and I do follow his principles. Infact, I am going to be joining the Episcopal church when I am older. I don't hate people who hate God or religion, or people who do love God and religion (I do, but some fundimentalists really scare me, especially Fred Phelps who is a homophobic, 9/11 and AIDS loving idiot) because we all have our own opinions. We have no idea what God is thinking, if the Bible is completely accurate to God's word, etc... but we all know that loving is the main principle of His word. In my opinion, there is no reaso to hate church, but I do accept your opinion. I sat through a sermon once at a Catholic church, which was kind of boring... all I did was sit around and look at the scenery in the church. I've also been to a Methodist church, which was less boring. I do like visiting churches, though, especially Gothic cathedrals. Sometime, you should try and sit through sermons at different churches, Remember, you do not need to go to church in order to worship God. Your parents probably don't understand that, but since they've grown up with their opinions, there's no changing them. However, it is the right thing to do at this moment in life, because you may learn to appreciate it later. Then again, if you still don't like it, you don't have to go to it. For now, just obey your parents' wishes, and keep going to church. You may not want to, but you'll get used to it. Besides, hate is a very strong word. Are you absolutely positive that you hate church, or do you strongly dislike it? | |
