Remember that we do have to stick to the original trilogy.

Let me put on my pocket protector...

Wedge Antilles was Lukes friend from Tattooine and Pilot in all 3 movies.

I really don't want to go to the prequels unless we absolutely have to. . . so for now Sayid is trusty friend and pilot Wedge... loyal, smart, and not a main character, but important to the backstory.

I guess Kate could have been Chewie with her wonderful ability to set off traps, but that just wouldn't be right.
