Okay im going to apologize up front for being a sh*tty student and coming to class stoned and not taking any notes. Alright so in my humanities class recently my teacher was taking about Jacob back in biblical times, and being the lost fanatic that i am, i immediatley perked up hearing the name and listened intently to what she had to say about him. Then, being the stoner i am, i promptly forgot about 80% of what was said. She talked about the brother rivalry thing with esau which i already knew about (thanks to this forum!) but the real interesting part that got me was were she talked about Jacob being involved in a fight with an unnamed being over humanity. Jacob wins in the end and god then changes his name to Isreal because of these events. So does the unnamed being sound like anyone we know on the show? Yeah Mr. Blackshirt. He is unnamed and based on the first scenes in last years finale we know they are in a struggle over humanity. Seems to fit to me. Again, there was much more to this and i remember my teacher mentioning this takes place in the bible in Genesis 28:32. I think the chapter and verse are wrong though, it must be some variation of those numbers.

Jacob wrestled all night with a being that he realized was not an ordinary man. The being has been attributed to God or the future mesiah. I guess that would make Smokey, Jesus. Holy Smokes! ![]()

The whole Jacob/Esau relationship has always intrigued me. I really doubt that it will end up being anything related, to me it would be to obvious, but it does have similarities. But in that story, it ended up good between the relationship between of them. Esau embraced his brother in meeting him the next day. The fight the night before with the figure(god) was like a fight in place of the one he could have had with Esau, at least the way I always looked at it.
