Welcome Man of Faith!!!

Curious, it seems to me that frequently our perceived Man of Faith, John Locke, actually behaves like a Man of Science, and conversely, our Man of Science, Jack Shephard, behaves like a Man of Faith ... Agree? For example, when Ben-"programmed" Ethan Rom [Read Only Memory] brutally kidnapped pregnant Claire and volatile Hobbit Charlie, Jack rabidly chased thru the jungle without much thought while Locke wanted to return to the caves and organize a search. Make sense to you?

Yes it seems to me the good Dr J Sheppard is on a journey from man of science to man of faith. Of course this has come to pass after he has left the island but its a gradual thing, from his naysaying of Locke and his hatch fixation right up to his "we have to back Kate" in LA. On the way he has had to be a rock and have steadfast belief in his science to help his fellow losties and the others (Bens surgery). Now home in LA it seems now he is a man of (lost?) faith but a man of faith no less.

Locke however seems to find faith, lose it screw up, find it again, give in and then accept it totally. I for one cannot wait to see how Locke got off the island (Donkey Wheel?) and how the rest get back.

I've been having the same suspicions lately that Jack may be the chosen one to ultimately lead the island, not Locke. Jack's tattoo hints at it and Richard seemed disappointed when he visited Locke as a child. Also, in a webisode, Jack's dead father said that Jack had much work to do.

One thing that contradicts this is that in Season 3 one of the Others said that Jack wasn't on Jacob's list. But I suppose Ben could have changed it or even made up the list. Or, since we don't what the list really is, perhaps it's not supposed to include the future leader.

I like the concept of faith and science intertwining.

jack wasn't on jacobs list because, JACK IS JACOB! BO YEAH! Think about it, the 2 people in jacobs hut... claire and jacks dad... coincidence that 2 of jacks family members are hanging out with jackob?

This Scotsman has a plan too, Brother!

ya ya, we've all heard the jack is jacob theory, and to be quite honest, i like it. i think its plausible and entertaining. but dammit im tired of hearing about it. Nobody has had any knew thoughts on Jacob in a long, long time. Except for that one (i forgot who said it) where ben is the wizard of oz and Jacob is some type of technology being used by ben. I think i like this one better but their both good.

Still not sold on Jack being "The One" -- primarily because the Jack character was supposed to die in the pilot episode...Kate was supposed to be the leader, yah?

Anyway, with the writing as good as it it - anything's possible and they may have swung that character back around.

Welcome to the boards, Man of Faith.

dude, if you checkout the still of jacob, and compare it with charles widmore in bed when ben wakes him... jacob looks like a hobo version of charles widmore! Can it be!?!?

If it was, it would explain a few things...like why Ben has Jacob locked in the cabin using the ring of ash, also why the "Shade" of Widmore flickers in and out -- can't be in the same time continuum twice, right?
