Lost is a show of moments.  There are scenes, from the first season on, that hit the audience so hard they become forever etched into the mind of the viewer.  Part of this is, of course, the format of the series.  There are cliffhangers and reveals that viewers could never see coming, and those moments are significant TV viewing moments.  The shock and awe routine that the Lost writers consistently employ make Lost what it is and, by and large, they are the result of diligent work.  The reveals are long in the offing, story seeds having been planted, in some cases, seasons before they are resolved.  You can argue all you want about how far in advance the writers know what's going to happen in the different stories, but all that matters is this: Lost earns their big moments, and that's why we love the show.

Wow, No inclusion of Desmond and Penny's phone call at the end of "The Constant". Seriously? This was by far the best moment of season 4 in my opinion. Like, it's not even close.

TaylorJohnston2.....I couldn't agree more!!! Before reading the article, I was confident that I could pick the top 5 moments that this article was going to choose. Well, at least four of them. I figured Claire's appearance in the cabin would be included due to the photo used for the article, and I don't agree with that one. My top 5 were: #1 Desmond/Penny phone call, #2 Locke in the coffin, #3 Kate revealed as Aaron's "mom", #4 Oceanic 6 arrive home, #5 Ben revealed as Sayid's employer.

My top 5:

#5 - Ben revealed as Sayid's Employer
#4 - Jin's flashforward is really a flashback!
#3 - One event showed in two episodes - Ben at Frozen Donkey Wheel / Ben in Desert "Oh, So You Do Speak English".
#2 - Locke is in the coffin (and thus revealed as Jeremy Bentham)
#1 - Desmond/Penny phone call

HM: Ben and Widmore's talk at the hotel. Locke visiting Jacob / "We have to move the island". Hurley talking to dead Charlie. Daniel Faraday and Desmond meet at Oxford. Penny's rescue of the O6. "He Changed The Rules". Sayid shooting people.

There were a ton of amazing moments this season, and you nailed five of them for sure. The romantic in me also completely loved the Penny/Desmond reunion in the finale, and that went down as one of my top scenes of the show this year. I did not expect that to happen in the least and I only realized how wonderfully their story was set up when I actually saw them get to see each other again.

I can not make a top list, but some of the most exciting moments are: Locke is talking to Jacob, and sees Claire, Ben employs Sayid, Jack and Kate at judgement, Desmond is going back into past and meets Daniel, Locke in the coffin, Michael is on the boat (also a story of his survival)....

the desmond/penny phone call was the best scene of the season... i had goosebumps watching it.. i was screaming in my head "say it arleady, des! TELL PENNY YOU LOVE HER!!!"

my only complaint about lost is that the new seasons have lost the focus on the character and more of what happens to them...
for example, the last locke flashback was more of how he was already attached to the island rather than what deeper insight we can learn about locke... the episode where he tells his physical therapist "dont tell me what i cant do" was amazing
but i guess thats just the nature of the show... its an inevitable change..
i love lost and i wont stop watchin till the end but i hope that future flashbacks/forwards will add some more depth to the character...
